Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Provides skilled journey level work for the operation and maintenance of RYERSON STATION state park, including making repairs and performing maintenance on vehicles, machinery, buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Assist the Park's Wastewater Treatment & Pool Operator.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, vehicles, facilities, bridges and equipment in the park.
Work involves proficiency in several trades, with working conditions and the degree of lead work differing by location, condition, and the nature of assignment. Employees exercise technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receive assignments orally or through written instructions, which may be accompanied by sketches or diagrams. Review of work is received from technical or administrative superiors through inspections and discussions.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION - Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment in a safe responsible manner. Prepare and maintain automotive/equipment reports, daily maintenance logs, and oil/gas/propane measurements.

MECHANICAL - Perform mechanical work on park vehicles, tractors, mowers, and small power equipment. This includes routine work such as changing filters, belts, tires, and oil; lube jobs, replacing mufflers and tail pipes, etc. Major work includes brake jobs, tune-ups, adjusting valves, carburetors etc.

ELECTRICAL - Repair and install outlets, switches, lights, electric heaters, and fans, etc. Install and repair of electric service park facilities/buildings.
PLUMBING – Install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures, lavatories, water closets, water fountains, water lines, water heating equipment, etc. Drain pipes in preparation for winter.

CARPENTRY - Operate power carpentry tools to perform rough and finish carpentry in maintenance, renovation, construction of park facilities. Repair or install drywall, plaster, floor coverings, windows, doors, locks, roofs, soffit, fascia, spouting; install flashing and lay shingles.

MASONRY - Perform new and maintenance work in connection with buildings, bridges, foundations, walks, and walls. Construct forms for cement work, mix cement and plaster, finish cement using mason's tools, pour footers, floors, walls, and sign bases. Lay concrete block, brick, and stones.

LANDSCAPING - Repair, renovate, and maintain turf areas, roads, trails, paths, walkways. Pruning, planting, transplanting of trees and hedges, etc. Cut grass using mowers or lawn tractors. Remove snow from sidewalks, parking areas, and roads using basic snow removal equipment.

JANITORIAL – Clean and sanitize park facilities, restrooms, pit latrines, pavilions, vehicles, etc. using various equipment including but not limited to vacuum, broom, mop, rags, dusters, etc. Collect dispose of trash.

GENERAL- Maintain a clean work environment, clean and store tools properly. Maintain and update tool inventories. Store materials in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and protect from unnecessary damage. Paint interior and exterior of buildings.

Performs other duties as required.
