Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee occupying this position is responsible and accountable for a segment of the overall Therapeutic Recreation program, which includes supervision of staff, program development, review, and documentation of services. This employee works with adult psychiatric patients.

Description of Duties:

Provides supervision for professional employees by direct observation, individual meetings with staff, reviewing records and reports of staff, and through appropriate in-service training in order to evaluate employee's performance and maximize work output. Plans, reviews and evaluates unit programs on a regular basis by observing activities, meeting with staff, and reviewing monthly statistical records, in order to provide the most cost-effective delivery of quality Therapeutic Recreation programming. Works directly with patients by leading and co-leading patient activity groups in order to provide recovery-based services for consumers. Help assure Therapeutic Recreation services meet CMS standards. Assists the Therapeutic Activities Services director with administrative functions such as Performance Improvement standards, developing and maintaining department policies and procedures, maintaining records and reports, and securing and maintenance of facilities. Participates with multi-disciplinary treatment teams and other meetings as directed in order to assure that Therapeutic Recreation programming is meeting the needs of patients. Assesses training needs of Therapeutic Recreation staff and develops and delivers training as needed. Orders equipment and supplies, and maintains up to date inventories. Participates in OMHSAS approved Crisis Response training and utilizes approved Crisis Response interventions as needed to maintain safety.
