Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee occupying this position is responsible for the supervision of (10-20) subordinate employees through the directing, inspecting and overseeing of their work to maintain a safe, clean, odor-free and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Plans, organizes and directs work of subordinate employees by developing work schedules, goals and prioritizing work projects.
Provides on-site inspections to review and evaluate work efforts to insure the accomplishment of project goals and quality of services.
Trains and directs subordinates in the use of equipment, cleaning procedures, infection control and safety regulations.
Documents and maintains records on employee time usage; prepares and processes performance evaluations and conduct corrective interviews.
Orders supplies and reports any needed repairs to equipment and building within assigned areas through work orders.
Performs physical work with subordinate employees at various jobs as need dictates. Supervises and assists in the setting up of scaffolding and ladders to wash walls, ceilings, windows, draperies, light fixtures, electronic smoke eaters and air vents.
Attends staff training classes, seminars and outside training to improve the quality of supervisory workmanship.

Essential Functions:
Functions as a supervisor for a group of Custodial Worker I's and II's.
Receives and follows assignments orally and from written work orders and through work schedules. Maintains documents and time records, inventories, evaluations, inspections and orders supplies. Also maintains cooperative working relationships with hospital staff. Identifies cleaning needs in assigned areas and takes appropriate action by assigning and supervising work.
Uses and cares for hand tools, equipment and supplies needed to accomplish cleaning assignments.
Recognizes occupations hazards and follows safety precautions.
Supervises and assists in the performance of heavy manual labor such as setting up ladders, scaffolding, operation and moving equipment, materials and furniture, wall washing, window washing, light and drapery cleaning, carpet shampooing, stripping and waxing floors and trash removal. Equipment and materials may include operating battery powered scrub machines, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, carpet shampooers, and the pick up and deliveries of wet mop and dust heads, cased of cleaning solutions and paper products.
Trains and directs staff in infection control and safety.
Evaluates work performance of subordinates and makes recommendations.
Employee performs routine custodial waste removal and cleaning activities associated with potentially hazardous drugs and must be trained and comply with procedures outlined in USP800. Will train staff on the proper procedures and policies when dealing with USP800.

Manages subordinate employees in order to maintain a therapeutic environment.
Communicates with other maintenence shops and FMM.
Directs workforce for maximum service.

Essential Functions

 1. Supervises staff responsible for standard/asceptic cleaning sanitation work. Perfoms a full range of supervisory duties.
 2. Supervises staff in the main laundry distribution center responsible for the marking, distribution, and care of soiled linens.
 3. Plans, organizes, and assigns work to staff based on facility priorities.
 4. Trains staff on the proper use of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safety precautions.
 5. Develops, evaluates, modifies, and implements operational standards and procedures for custodial services.
 6. Inspects work performed by staff to ensure it meets established standards.
 7. Identifies requirements and recommends the ordering of supplies and equipment. Determines the proper storage of supplies/equipment.
 8. Recommends maintenance and repair work to buildings, furnishings, and equipment.
 9. Participate in the performance of subordinates' work consistent with operational and organizational requirements.
 10. Perform related work as required.
