Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Provides skilled maintenance and repair work to ensure the upkeep, safety, and functionality of the buildings and grounds at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum. This position supports historic preservation, visitor safety, and the smooth operation of more than 50 structures on a 100-acre museum site. Work contributes directly to the museum's mission by protecting infrastructure, enhancing aesthetics, and ensuring safe and accessible spaces for the public and staff.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs all aspects of ground maintenance, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, ice control, storm drain clearing, ditching and field upkeep.

Operates tractors, utility vehicles, and power equipment for landscaping, and infrastructure maintenance.

Maintains walkways, roads, parking areas, garden spaces, and perimeter fencing to ensure accessibility and site safety.

Performs routine building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, roof patching. gutter cleaning, and masonry repair.

Conducts minor plumbing and electrical repairs such as fixture replacement, outlet maintenance, and pipe patching.

Utilizes hand tools, power tools, ladders, and scaffolding to complete a wide variety of maintenance tasks.

Inspects And Maintains mechanical systems, including HVAC components, as assigned.

Cleans and maintains public facilities by removing trash, restocking supplies, sweeping, and performing basic custodial duties.

Supports programs and special events by setting up tents, tables, chairs, signage, and audio/visual equipment.

Opens and secures buildings and program spaces daily, and monitors and reports issues with the site's security and utility systems.

Monitors site grounds and structures for safety hazards, makes minor corrections, and reports serious concerns to supervisors.

Supports the museum's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals by treating
all coworkers and visitors with respect and professionalism.

Uses computers and digital systems to complete work logs, submit maintenance request, and communicate with staff.

Drives vehicles and equipment to complete onsite and offsite assignments, including supply runs and inter-site collaboration.

Travels as required, including to other PHMC sites for maintenance reviews and reports; performs other duties as assigned; and assists in museum-wide initiatives and special projects.

Works under the general supervision of the Facilities Operations Supervisor. Exercises independent judgment in determining the order and method of completing daily maintenance tasks. Decides when to repair, report, or escalate site safety issues. Recommends materials for routine repairs. Refers structural issues, code compliance, and emergency repairs to supervisor., Coordinates work around the museums public programs and visitation schedule to avoid disruptions and ensure safety.

Experience:

General trades experience in carpentry, minor Electrical, groundskeeping, basic plumbing, or related maintenance areas is expected.

Essential Functions
