Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs field inspection work, conducts inspections to determine compliance with the laws, rules, and regulations regarding professional and occupational licensing and other areas under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Conducts physical inspections of locations of licensees for the possession and proper display of current licensure documents, possession of required equipment, materials, devices, reference books, etc., adherence to established requirements for licensure, and adherence to the laws, rules, and regulations of the Commonwealth and the various licensing Boards. Issues citations when violations are found in accordance with the Citation Program. Provides limited investigative support activities such as obtaining evidentiary records, executing service of legal documents, and posing as a consumer in support of undercover investigations. Prepares reports of activities and any associated documents. Augments investigative team as necessary on selected investigations. Travels to various sites in a geographic area of the state to conduct periodic inspections of all affected professions and occupations, by observation and interviews, noting any deviation from established standards, and preparing reports to communicate findings. Plans, organizes, and coordinates inspection activities and confers with supervisor or designee on progress. Required to keep confidential the identities and locations of interviewees and evidence obtained in executing duties. Collects evidence and samples and conducts tests (utilizing commercial test kits) of suspected prohibited substances and chemicals potentially used by professional licensees and others regulated by the professional licensing acts. (i.e., Methyl Methacrylate) Types required reports completely and accurately, relating findings of any given investigation or activity. Contacts persons to make appointments and for other work-related matters. Reads, understands, and appropriately applies all the laws, rules, and regulations of the appropriate licensing Boards, Commissions, Departments, and Bureaus as it relates to the position. Attends training sessions to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Keeps supervisor aware of activities by discussing projected tasks and locations for any given time frame. Testifies at formal and informal hearings and appears as a witness for the State in formal judicial proceedings. Travels to and from work sites as necessary. Be available for temporary reassignment statewide, as necessary and when directed. Performs other related duties as required. |

Decision making involves routine courses of action to successfully complete inspection assignments, including generation of an inspection travel plan, conducting inspections, conducting research, etc. Decisions involving situations outside the norm, exceeding Bureau mandated timelines, approval of inspection/citation reports and requests requiring the use of the chain-of-command will be approved by the Supervisor. |
