Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is an advanced, highly technical leadership position within the Enterprise Hosting Services team in the Office of Administration / Office for Information Technology that provides strategic oversight, and management for Enterprise Data Storage services. The is part of the Storage team, which is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and lifecycle management of enterprise-class storage infrastructure, including SAN switching and storage capacity, to support critical enterprise systems and ensure availability, performance, scalability, and data across the organization. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. *Responsible for the daily operations of the Enterprise SAN infrastructure environment. This position must have advanced knowledge of IBM Flash Systems devices, Cisco SAN Switches. *Works closely with the server, networking, database, and storage team leads to ensure compatibility between all components in the environment. *Maintains a strong working knowledge of server, networking, database, storage, and virtualization technologies to support system operations and projects. *Serves as a backup to the SAN Team Lead in ensuring the SAN team adheres to enterprise standards for change management, incident management, and inventory management. *Works with the SAN Team Lead to continuously monitor the SAN environment and develop management dashboards to provide clear visibility into operational health and performance metrics. *Serves as a backup to the SAN Team Lead in creating a weekly SAN capacity report and providing management with the report for the SAN environment. *Serves as a backup to the SAN Team Lead in performing capacity planning for the SAN environments regularly to ensure the planned and anticipated growth of the EDC can be accommodated. *Keeps management updated with the status of projects, develops work plans and timelines, monitors project status, and oversees the implementation of Enterprise strategies. *Tracks assigned tasks using a work plan. *Meets weekly with management to review assigned projects and tasks and provide status. *Serves as a backup to the SAN Team Lead in the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding the SAN infrastructure consistent with customer requirements and Commonwealth standards. *Identifies areas where technical expertise is required within the SAN Operations Team, including training plans, and relays these requirements to the Data Center Manager. *Remains current with technology to make recommendations to Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) management on the technological direction of the Enterprise SAN infrastructure. *Serves as a backup to the SAN Team Lead in developing plans for the managed upgrade of SAN to ensure supportability across all servers within the Enterprise. *Ensures proper security controls are in place for all Enterprise servers and storage. *Conducts research designed to improve both current and long-range goals of the Enterprise’s customers. *Works with vendors to ensure requested services or products are being provided in a manner that satisfies expected performance capabilities/levels. *Serves as a backup to the SAN Team Lead in developing and implementing operating procedures for staff within the Enterprise SAN Team to guide end-user requests for support and service. *Ensure compliance with established organizational service management processes, procedures, and best practices. *Provides 24/7 on-call support of the SAN environment during non-business hours. *Travel as required, including overnight stays. *Performs other related duties as assigned. Including those outlined in the CoG Plan when the Plan is activated. Responds to the designated alternate or secondary location when directed in response to a catastrophic incident. *Maintains a general knowledge of computer and distributed systems standards and developments. *Performs related work as required. |

Project Leader and supervisor for the SCCM technical staff including full time employees and contractors; assigns and evaluates work, establishes standards and timeframes. Ensures that that staff understands and are educated in the proper use of the system. |
