Position Purpose:

Protects life and property on the facility by enforcing rules and regulations regarding Hospital operations. Safeguards Hospital, State and personnel property from actions and events that occur during normal and emergency situations. Responds to emergencies at the Hospital, providing Fire & Life Safety measures as appropriate.

Description of Duties:

The Security Officer's responsibility is protecting life and property, and enforcing Commonwealth, facility rules and regulations relating to hospital
operations. This is done through mobile and walking patrol and monitoring of security systems and cameras on the facility. Preserves law & order,
prevents and detects crime, investigates complaints and incidents or violations of law, rules and regulations. The SO I participates in investigations
of all violations of hospital and commonwealth rules, regulations and laws. They respond to all emergencies on the facility and provides assistance to
stabilize or correct the emergency situation. The SO I performs security checks of all building to ensure all doors and windows are secure and that no
unauthorized personnel are located on hospital property. Conducts searches for missing or AWOL patients in accordance with search policy. They
perform safety patrols of the facility to detect fire or safety hazards which may endanger persons or property. The SO I maintains duty logs,
completes Incidents reports on conditions or situations discovered and conducts witness statement taking for said incidents. Delivers court
documents to patients as required by law. The SO I will be responsible for operation of the communications and dispatch center at irregular times
and operates computer programs to make employee and patient badges and for daily report writing.

The Security Officer I receives general instruction from the SO II. Work is assigned by written, verbal instructions as well as departmental goals, departmental policies and standard operating procedures. The SO I will resolve problems encountered in the daily operations of the facility pertaining to Security and Safety issues and emergencies encountered. During emergency operations, as senior officer on duty he will direct operations to resolve conditions that effect the safety and security of patients, personnell and materials on the hospital grounds.

 1. Performs security patrol of the facility by operating a MV in all weather/road conditions.
