Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. The Park Resource Ranger performs a wide variety of public safety, facilities protection, visitor service, and regulation awareness activities at Frances Slocum State Park, under the supervision of the Park Manager. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. PUBLIC SAFETY - Travels the park area, by park vehicles, on foot, and boat, alleviate problems, or potential problems that might pose a threat to the health and safety of the park visitor. Inspects park buildings, facilities, and grounds for safety hazards, immediately corrects, posts, or otherwise control the hazard, and reports to supervisor in a timely manner. FACILITY PROTECTION - Monitors park visitors activities to insure proper use of the facilities. Secures and checks buildings, facilities, and equipment to protect from vandalism and theft. VISITOR SERVICE - Provides information to park visitors on park facilities, (activities, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, history, and environmental features), services, points of interest, and nearby State Parks. Provides proper and efficient emergency care of park visitors, including CPR, First Aid, and search for lost persons. Uses park Reservation software and other computer programs to issue launching, mooring and camping permits, pavilion reservations, and swimming pool passes and tickets. Uses a computer and cash register to conduct transactions at the pool. Accounts for revenues received, delivers bank deposits. REGULATION AWARENESS - Informs park visitors and requests voluntary compliance, in ensuring that Park policies, rules, regulations, etc. are complied with, and issues courtesy notices within the guidelines of Bureau Policy and Philosophy. Cooperates with State Police and other enforcement agencies having jurisdiction within the park. Assists with crowd control functions. Responds to complaints, accidents (non vehicle) and incidents. Reports violations of law to the Park Manager and DCNR Rangers. COMMUNICATIONS - Use proper radio procedures, maintains radio traffic to a minimum. Insures supervisor, ranger staff, maintenance staff, and clerical staff are aware of happenings in the park that may effect their job responsibilities. REPORTS - Prepares daily ranger logs, incident reports, vehicle use reports, etc. in a timely manner. EQUIPMENT - All equipment, including uniforms, and park vehicles must be used in a professional manner and in accordance with Department and Bureau policies and procedures. All equipment, vehicles, and office space must be kept clean and organized. Travel on occasion for required trainings and park related events. |

Work is reviewed periodically and upon completion through personal observation for quality, timeliness, completeness, and attainment of project goals and objectives. |
