Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Researches, develops, coordinates, presents and evaluates environmental education and interpretive programs on a variety of natural history and human history topics to the public and organized groups ranging from preschool to senior citizen groups. Using state developed themes and programs, develops and implements a series of environmental and interpretive programs focusing on the park’s natural history, historic and cultural events, and environmental management issues and conducts special activities for the park visitor. Coordinates and facilitates recreational/entertainment programs such as concerts, clean ups, guest speakers, etc. Facilitates environmental learning activities using established lesson plans including but not limited to State Parks Activities for Environmental Learning, Project Learning Tree, Project Wild, Pennsylvania Songbirds, Food Land and People and Project WET. Develops and utilizes written lesson plans in approved format for presentation of all programs. Maintains displays in the Environmental Learning Center. Conducts the Bureau’s DiscoverE Learning Series for young people of varied ages including Outdoor Adventurers Program, Conservation Leaders, Hide-N-Seekers, and Penn's Adventurers. Coordinates, plans and conducts structured, activity-based lessons for school, college, home school and other groups that integrate into the audience's curriculum. Coordinates use, and maintains inventory of environmental learning field equipment and audio-visual equipment; oversees use of equipment; and makes recommendations for repair, servicing, replacement and purchase of new equipment to park manager. Prepares and distributes program and activity schedules, brochures, press releases and other correspondence including social media posts. Coordinates volunteers, maintains records, organizes/plans events, reports hours, and communicates needs with the park's DCNR Conservation Volunteer program. Prepares and submits required reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Develops and presents impromptu interpretive activities. Maintains program records and files. Maintains the EES office and Environmental Learning Center in a clean and orderly fashion. Provides open office hours for the public to engage in questions related to the park. Assists in staffing the Park Office and provides visitors with information. Maintains proficiency with the Aspira Reservation system and provides visitors with customer services related to the sale of gift shop merchandise, launch permits, campsites, etc. Provides environmental and historical interpretive activities including but not limited to: guided walks, tours, campfire programs, illustrated talks and field learning activities. Assists with the preparation of educational publications and exhibits. Travels to various sites and other state parks to present programs or assist with other activities. Attends various trainings as assigned by supervisor. |
