Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is technical public safety work performing a variety of public safety duties and interpreting park rules and regulations designed to promote the safe utilization of recreational facilities at Pymatuning State Park.

This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, evenings and holiday as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Ensures visitor safety, provides patrons with information and educates the public about park rules and regulations, and protects park resources. Provides information, rules, and regulations to park visitors; ensuring posters, bulletin boards and signs are current and serviceable; directs park visitors away from hazardous and unsafe conditions and/or situations; educates patrons on use of park resources and facilities in designated area, including guided trail hikes, park history, water recreation activities, beach and bathing areas, and environmental features; inspects buildings, structures, facilities, and park grounds for security and safety; reports rule and regulation violations to appropriate personnel; ensures assigned equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition performing related maintenance and custodial duties where appropriate; maintains and monitors public-accessible beach rescue equipment and public safety first aid kits. Complete resource management tasks such as, but not limited to; goose and gull harassment, goose egg addling and nest inspections; invasive species management. Assist park Environmental Education staff at various events such as Spooktacular, Great Pymatuning Shoreline Clean Up and Onion Fest.

Uses computer to register campers, collect money, issue receipts, print reports, and operate the park reservation and revenue system according to written procedures. Collects various revenues (family camping, boat mooring, boat launching, group tent camping, pavilion rental, etc.) according to written and oral guidelines and provides appropriate permit in order to document transaction. Reconciles all money collected against permits sold by using adding machine or making simple arithmetical calculations in order to assure accuracy of work on a daily basis.

Assist in park office and any contact stations as needed due to clerical staff shortages.
