Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides public safety work along with visitor services in the field of State Park operations and outdoor recreation in order to promote the safe utilization of facilities at M K Goddard State Park. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Ensures visitor safety, provides patrons with information and educates the public about park rules and regulations and protecting park resources. Ensures posters, bulletin boards and signs are current and serviceable; directs park visitors away from hazardous and unsafe conditions and/or situations; educates patrons on use of park resources and facilities in designated areas, including assisting environmental education staff with trail hikes, park history, water recreation activities, nature and environmental issues/features, and other recreational opportunities in the park; assists in organizing and facilitating special events; inspects buildings, structures, facilities, and park grounds for security and safety; reports rules' and regulations' violations to appropriate personnel; ensures assigned equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition performing related maintenance and custodial duties where appropriate; assists in the maintenance of public rescue equipment, public safety first aid kits, and fire extinguishers; responds to emergency situations, such as water, bike trail, hiking trail, and automobile accidents to ensure visitor safety; in cases of emergency makes appropriate notification to emergency personnel; administers first-aid and/or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as necessary to injured park visitors; assists in search and rescue operations within State Park grounds and boundaries; areas of responsibility are throughout M K Goddard State Park boundaries and include all park facilities, day use areas, roads, trails, and lakes, including shoreline areas. Assists in providing information, making reservations, issuing permits, checking boat mooring information at park offices using the park reservation and revenue program. Assists with research projects, marking boundaries, goose away program, invasive species, native plantings, and other resource management. This position may require the operation of a (motor vehicle, ATV, bicycle, or boat) to monitor park grounds. Performs related duties as required. |

Employee determines and addresses safety concerns within the park; answers questions from the public regarding the park’s features and activities; and recognizes and responds to emergency situations. |
