Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is semi-skilled manual work in the construction and maintenance of various buildings, grounds or public works projects at Ohiopyle State Park. An employee in this job performs semi-skilled work alone, assists a skilled trades worker, or functions as lead worker for a small crew of manual workers performing routine tasks. Work involves the use of a variety of construction, grounds keeping and maintenance equipment and tools, which frequently requires the application of skills acquired on the job. Minor repairs and routine grounds keeping and custodial duties are performed with considerable independence and reviewed upon completion. More advanced construction or repair work is performed under the direction of a skilled trades worker or supervisor. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. • Employee performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker in performing routine tasks in the maintenance and construction at Ohiopyle State Park. • Makes repairs to buildings and facilities, using tools of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other building trades in the performance of this maintenance work. • Operates and assists in the maintenance, care and cleaning of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park. • Performs ground maintenance by mowing or cutting weeds or grass, using a riding mower, hand mower, or weed eater; cutting firewood; picks up litter and trash; loads and moves materials in dump trucks or pick up trucks; cleans grills; sweeps paved areas; digs holes and ditches; cleans drains and culverts. Duties also include site preparation, seeding and establishment of new turf areas; planting and maintaining trees and shrubs. • Operates equipment such as tractors, skid steers and zero turns. • Paints and/or stains park buildings, signs, gates, etc. • Utilizes tools and equipment of the custodial trade in the performance of cleaning tasks. Cleans, disinfects and sanitizes restrooms, showers and other park facilities • Cleans and services Clivus-Multrum style restrooms. These restrooms require adding and mixing "bulking material" (peat moss) into the waste, monitoring moisture content to ensure good composting conditions and cleaning the facility (toilets, toilet tubes and urinals). • Cleans and services “Pit” style restrooms. These restrooms require cleaning of toilets, toilet tubes and urinals. • Make minor routine repairs such as replacing light bulbs or tightening fixtures. • Assists in the process of pouring concrete and building forms • Empties garbage cans and collects recycling materials • Shovels snow and treats sidewalks for ice. • Is responsible for the safe and proper use of all equipment, power tools and hand tools. • Assists park visitors and disseminates information in a friendly, helpful manner. • Completes all necessary forms/records, such as daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records and leave slips. • Operates two-way radio in accordance with proper procedure. • Performs related work as required. |
