Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is technical forestry position responsible for accomplishment of a portion of the overall unit and bureau objectives in resource management, recreation, and fire through exercise of his/her technical training and experience.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

STATE FOREST MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
A. Assists foresters in typing vegetation for Forest Resource Plan.
B. Assists foresters in marking and/or designating forest products for sale from state forest land.
C. Assists with all activities associated with the district’s regeneration program.
D. Prepares surveys and maps using GPS & GIS technology.
E. Maintain herbicide application records for regeneration and invasive species treatments.
F. Obtain Pesticide Applicators Core and Category 5 Forest Pest Control Licenses.
G. Conduct field Surveys and collect specimens on state forest land.

RECREATION
A. Assists foresters in establishment and improvements of state forest recreational facilities.
B. Operates a motor vehicle, ATV, or snowmobile to conduct recreational maintenance.
C. Provides information and assistance to visitors.
D. Provides organized educational programs to user groups as directed.

STATE FOREST PROTECTION
A. Completes S-130, S-190, IS-700, ICS-100, L-180 and FI-110. Respond to wildfires and
other emergencies as a firefighter, single resource, or function in a support position when requested, qualified, and available.
B. Participate in prescribed burns up to the level of training obtained when requested and available.
C. Accepts appointment as Forest Fire Warden.

ADMINISTRATION
A. Maintain records and files of all activities in which involved, submits timely, accurate reports of all activities.
B. Ensures assigned equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean, neat, serviceable condition.
C. Be familiar with established Commonwealth, Department, and Bureau rules, regulations, policies, directives and orders and comply with them in a responsible manner.

AUXILLARY DUTIES
A. Must exhibit sufficient strength and endurance to negotiate rough terrain in harsh weather conditions.
B. Assists in District programs to aid in meeting District or Bureau goals.
C. Attend meetings and training related to your position as directed by the Resource Management Forest Assistant Manager.
C. Provide reports and recommendations to your supervisor as directed or as you deem necessary.
D. Recognize and report potential safety issues.

Essential Functions

 1. Possess current PA Driver's License and operate a variety of motor vehicles on and off road.
