Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Administers scoring and interpretation of a wide range of psychological diagnostic measures and employs other diagnostic techniques to evaluate intellectual functioning, personality structure, interests, aptitudes and related psychological factors. Conducts individual assessment/clinical interviews and prepare all reports as required. Provides immediate crisis intervention and therapeutic services as needed for inmates assigned and/or referred by other staff members. Conducts psychological evaluations of specialized cases (i.e. commutation, referrals to SAU, SMU, SRTU, BMU, and SNU's). Conducts psychological evaluations of H-1 bargaining unit applicants. Conducts annual psychological evaluations of staff assigned to RHU, BMU. Ensures standards for the provision of psychological services are met for ACA accreditation. Screens or assigns for screening inmates requesting or referred for psychiatric services and/or other mental health services. Makes appropriate referrals for evaluation and for treatment counseling. Interviews or assigns inmates to be seen on emergency basis according to Department Policy 13.8.1. Conducts 30, 60, 90,120,180 day psychological reviews of inmates who are in the RHU. Conducts annual psychological evaluation of all inmates continuously confined in the RHU for 1 year or more. Visits the RHU three times per week to consult with staff regarding any problematic cases. Performs in-person assessment of suicidal and GBMI inmates and/or those inmates returning from mental health facilities per 13.8.1. Supplies stability rating in the medical profiles and updates as needed. Establishes reliability, validity and confidence limits for psychological measures. Serves as consultant to Corrections Classification Program Manager, Unit Manager, or other staff regarding treatment of mental health issues. Performs individual and group counseling or psychotherapy or other therapeutic procedures and techniques of a psychological nature with a variety of inmates in a multi-disciplinary/case management setting. Participates in staff meetings to discuss and evaluate the adjustment of inmates and their individual treatment/case management plan. Serves as a consultant for both BMU/SNU program development and staff training and provide services to the units as needed. Formulates short and long term psychological treatment objectives for individual inmates. Reviews preliminary interpretations of standard psychological tests. Prepares comprehensive diagnostic, progress evaluation and prognostic mental and behavior management status reports. Develops and implements a counseling program to deal with adjustment problems in daily living, social interaction and work settings. Assists an administrative supervisor in the development of psychological services programs. Assists in research projects of a psychological services program. May be assigned responsibility for planning, organizing and conducting a specific segment of a research project. Testifies as an expert witness in legal proceedings regarding inmates. Serves as a member of various committees and teams (i.e., Initial Reception, Mental Health Services Review, Suicide Clinical Review, Psychiatric Review, Critical Incident Stress Management). Attends workshops, seminars, and training sessions related to professional matters as permitted. Ensures current updates of roster of potentially unstable inmates according 13.8.1 and local policy. Reviews and signs off on Psychological Reports, Individual Recovery plans and/or DC 551s for General Population inmate reports and addendums. Reviews, votes, and comments on inmate staffings as required by Policy. Participates in Emergency Plans and Drills. Performs related work as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Visually observe inmates’ activities 12. Be mobile over all types of physical surfaces and levels 13. Hear and identify sounds (voices, whistle, buzzer, lock release, scuffling, sudden quiet) |
