This position is responsible for examining returns and payments for compliance to state tax laws and regulations within the Bureau of Business Taxpayer Accounting for Consumption and Withholding tax types. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Learns to assist/Instruct Taxpayers with the filing of taxes on Telefile or myPath. Learn to manually perform complex calculations using excel spreadsheets or a calculator. Learns to receive and respond to any Right Now e-mail and PATH web notice for various queues regarding myPATH assistance, payments, assessments, and frequency change requests. Learns to receive, review, and apply payments for the Bureau of Business Taxpayer Accounting. Learns to receive and process assessment correspondence and tax returns that were mailed by the taxpayers in response to notices by reviewing for accuracy and if warranted, taking corrective action to settle the account. Learns to transfer credits to satisfy outstanding tax liabilities on a taxpayer’s account. Learns to perform transfer actions or initiate requests for transfer of payments when determined they are posted to an incorrect account or period. Learns to review and process write-offs and reassessments when information has been provided to warrant such action. Learns to calculates penalties and interest to ensure proper application and payoff figures for taxpayers. Learns to receive and initiate telephone contact with taxpayers to verify information and explain bureau policies, tax laws and procedures. Learns to receive account or period adjustment requests from The Bureau of Enforcement and Taxpayer Assistance (BETA) and the Customer Experience Center (CEC) through Item Review tasks in PATH to review for corrections, advice and adjustments as necessary. Learns to assists taxpayers, Attorneys, Accountants, other taxpayer representatives, and departmental employees verbally/in writing with questions. Learns to review nil returns received with payments to determine if there is a discrepancy, and an adjustment is necessary. Contacting the taxpayer may be imminent in order to resolve the case. Learns to receive, review & process Responsible Party Assessment requests. Learns to submit weekly production report to the supervisor/manager for all work completed. Learns to demonstrate a commitment to meeting expectations of the bureau/program’s customer(s) at all times. Demonstrate a commitment to the service-oriented culture of the Department. Apply Lean thinking in day-to-day tasks. Be mindful of internal controls and risk management when changes are made to a process. Treats others equitably and adheres to diversity and inclusion program requirements in the workplace. Performs other work-related duty as required. |
