Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assists with the development, implementation, and ongoing work associated with the NAS Program. Provides technical assistance to submitters (hospitals, birthing centers, and midwives) via email, telephone call or site visit to ensure compliance with electronic NAS reporting requirements. Issues guidance and clarification to submitters as needed via notice in the PA Bulletin, letters, email, or other methods deemed necessary. Advises program management of educational and technical assistance needs; develops training materials as needed; and acts as a liaison between the submitters, other providers and the NAS Program with respect to training/technical assistance opportunities statewide to improve knowledge. Conducts NAS case actions and documents activities within the case management system. Receives, reviews and summarizes reports and other forms of information regarding NAS to ensure the program follows national standards. Conducts quality assurance activities to ensure accurate data reporting. Reports data on a weekly basis to the Opioid Command Center and any other entity as requested/required. Utilizes data to determine unmet needs of infants identified with NAS and their families. Represents the NAS program at various workgroups and conferences. Maintains confidentiality of any Protected Health Information (PHI) encountered during the performance of job duties pursuant to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which limits the disclosure of this information. Attends regional, state and national meetings, as assigned, to represent the NAS Program. Public Health Emergency Response – This position may be given an assignment to support the public health emergency response mission of the Department of Health. Emergency assignments could at times be received with little or no advance notice and may continue for any period of time – ranging from a few hours to several weeks, depending on the nature of the circumstance. The emergency assignments may at times be performed under adverse conditions and may require travel to another site other than the employee’s assigned headquarters for a period of time. Performs other related duties as required to meet the goals of the Division of Newborn Screening and Genetics, the Bureau of Family Health, and the Department. Demonstrates awareness of the vulnerable populations the organization serves by identifying, providing, and advocating for resources, services, communication methods, and policies that would help those populations achieve health equity. |
