Position Purpose:

Responsible for performing various storeroom activities in support of the Cumberland County Maintenance Organization to ensure that operations are efficient and effective. Performs technical duties to assist in the review, analysis, and development of maintenance operations in accordance with management objectives and department policies and procedures within Cumberland County.

Based on usage record, recommend adjustments in reorder points or additional purchases of items to Equipment Manager; prepare requisition forms for parts room commodities and monitors status.

Receive, inspect and accept or reject stockroom items, recommend invoice payment to vendors; maintain consumable products in properly controlled storage area; maintain accurate, current inventories and control issuance of materials and supplies. Stocks consumable products in properly controlled storage areas, verifies inventory counts are correct, maintains accurate and current inventories, and controls issuance of materials and supplies.

Responsible for the unloading of delivery trucks utilizing the appropriate equipment, i.e., town motor, pallet jack, barrel dolly, etc. Responsible to accepts deliveries, inspect quantity and quality of all commodities to ensure conformance to purchasing document specifications. Responsible for organization and maintenance of all items.

Operate the Fork-Lift to unload delivery truck(s) and to transport large inventory items.

Utilize SAP to receive and issue inventory items as well as transfer material between storage locations and plants. Ensure that all consumables are signed out and employee PPE records are maintained properly.

Responsible to ensure that stock areas are properly maintained and precautions are taken against theft and damage. restock incoming inventory in a timely manner and maintain a neat and clean storeroom.

Reviews " Confirmation of Services" for received from vendors. Upon completion of review, responsible o enter goods receipts transactions and material transfer transactions in SAP and SRM systems.

Assist the county purchasing agent in obtaining availability and price of supplies. Initiate requisitions for direct use of replenishment of stock.

Assist the county purchasing agent and roadway programs coordinator to ensure compliance with inventory metrics. County is meeting goals.

Utilize SAP and SRM systems to create requisitions (shopping cars, purchase requisitions).

Operate the fork-list, pallet mule, hand truck and other equipment to unload delivery truck(S) and to transport large inventory items.

Serves as the County Safety Supply Coordinator (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, AED, PPE.

Serves as the County Hazardous Material Coordinator. Keeps track of materials and labeling.

Serves as the County Surplus Coordinator. With the purchasing agent, determines what material need surplus. Prepares items and paperwork for surplus.


Primary point of contact with the dumpster vendor ensuring that dumpsters are emptied in a timely manner, on an as needed basis.

Assists the AHMMs with monthly stockpile physical inventories.

Answers telephone greets internal and external customers to provide services or direct them to the appropriate point of contact promptly and courteously.

Ensures appropriate safety precautions are used to maintain safe environment for workers and the motoring public through use of proper safety procedures and equipment.

Supports District and County employee activities to fulfill the maintenance environmental requirements describe in Maintenance, Plant Maintenance, Bridge Maintenance Manuals, and Strategic Enviromental Management Program (SEMP) manual for Sound environmental Practices.

Keeps work area clean, orderly, and efficient and encourages others to do so; follows safety policies, procedures and uses protective equipment; takes proactive accident and injury avoidance measures; reports personal injuries and accidents immediately and seeks prompt treatment to minimize risk of further injury.

Performs other related work as required.

Succession Planning:
Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees.

Department Green Plan Policy:
As part of PennDOT's MS4 obligations including NPDES Permit compliance and stockpile good housekeeping, all Construction Inspection Employee, Manager & Supervisor and Maintenance Employee, Manager & Supervisor PDs must include the following statement:
Commit to following the Departments Green Plan Policy (Pub 712) and the associated principals. Failure to comply with Department Green Plan Policy shall be documented in employee's performance review.

Unless directed otherwise by your supervisor or manager, comply with stated work hours for the 7.5/8.0 hour day.

Recognizing that everyone is involved in the District’s and County’s actions to demonstrate sound environmental practices, each employee fulfills the maintenance unit business plan objectives related to the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Also, supports the efforts of other employees to meet these objectives.

Attends environmental training identified for this Working Title in the District’s SEMP Manual.
