Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Review, approve, and process applications for Uniform Construction Code certification for Third Party Agencies and 20 potential disciplines for individuals. Determine validity of submitted CEUs and exam documentation for each new discipline prior to the processing of licensure. Determine that applicable fees have been provided and apply to the record. Maintain electronic files of all applications and complete, accurate system database for division usage. Maintain hard copy files as necessary. Send out and track monthly Third-Party Agency renewal notices. Review and process BCO Notifications and Errors and Omissions insurance documentation for Third Party Agencies. Maintain L&I websites displaying UCC Third Party Agency, Individual, Municipal information and educational material. Review and process applications for Sterilization Permits, Bedding & Upholstery, and Stuffed Toys. Responsible for complete assessment and approval of sterilization permit initial/renewal applications, new bedding & upholstery registration initial/renewal applications, secondhand bedding & upholstery registration and permit initial/renewal applications, and stuffed toy registration initial/renewal applications. Test each stuffed toy item submitted for compliance with the applicable law and regulations. Make determinations regarding compliance/non-compliance based on the information provided by the customer. Determine that applicable fees have been provided and apply to record. Maintain electronic files of all applications and complete, accurate system database for division usage. Maintain hard copy files as necessary. Suggest updates to educational material listed on L&I’s Bedding and Toy program websites. Review, approve and process Asbestos applications for both individuals and contractors utilizing the Asbestos Occupations Accreditation and Certification Act of December 19, 1990, P. L. 805, No. 194 and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Model Accreditation Plan to determine if all requirements for certification have been met. Determine that applicable fees have been provided and apply to the record. Maintain electronic files of all applications and complete, accurate system database for division usage. Maintain hard copy files as necessary. Suggest updates to educational material listed on L&I’s Asbestos program websites. Review, approve, and process Lead applications for both individuals and companies utilizing the Lead Certification Act of July 6, 1995, P. L. 291, No. 44 and EPA’s 40 CFR Part 745 Subpart L to determine if all requirements for certification have been met. Determine that applicable fees have been provided and apply to the record. Maintain electronic files of all applications and complete, accurate system database for division usage. Maintain hard copy files as necessary. Suggest updates to educational material listed on L&I’s Lead program websites. Review, approve, and process Lead exam applications utilizing EPA’s 40 CFR Part 745 Subpart L for Lead licensing requirements for the following disciplines: Lead Supervisor, Lead Inspector, and Lead Risk Assessor. Schedule, track, and proctor Lead Supervisor, Inspector and Risk Assessor exams on a weekly rotation. Research and approve received refund requests. Prepare proper Revenue documentation for CAL Supervisor signature. Maintain and track electronic refund files for accurate database storage and record maintenance. Review, approve, and process Lead project abatement notifications and make determinations regarding compliance/non-compliance based on the information provided by the customer and the requirements of the Lead Certification Act of July 6, 1995, P. L. 291, No. 44, EPA’s 40 CFR Part 745 Subpart L, the OSHA standards, and the HUD Guidelines. Review Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment (LIRA) reports for accuracy and efficacy as compared to the information provided in the abatement notification. Maintain complete, accurate notification system database for division usage. Review, approve, and process Lead and Asbestos Emergency project waiver requests. Prepare email notification for CAL Inspector, CAL Inspector Supervisor, CAL Inspector Manager, and all CAL clerical staff listing the pertinent information for the emergency project. Follow up to be sure proper notification documentation has been received, approved, and processed after granting the emergency waiver. For Asbestos, utilization of DEP’s electronic Greenport system is required. Review, approve, and process Asbestos and Lead training course notifications to ensure full compliance with law and regulation requirements. Review, approve, and process post Lead and Asbestos training course documentation to ensure full compliance with the law and regulation requirements. Maintain complete, accurate training system database for division usage. Provide general assistance to the general public and customers relating to the daily operations of the Division. Research and make informed decisions regarding all laws, regulations, policies, and requirements as it pertains to customer inquiries for compliance with the Bedding & Upholstery, Stuffed Toy, Lead, Asbestos and UCC programs. Answer incoming phone calls and respond to emails and voicemails in the CAL, B&U and UCC resource accounts as well as other received written correspondence. Communicate and provide assistance/support to management, inspection and clerical staff, and the public. Formulate official notification regarding multiple processes for supervisory signature, as needed. Research/process returned mail and maintain the files alphabetically for multiple divisions. Scan and Q-C documents for various BOIS program areas. Knowledge of all division program areas (Lead/Asbestos/Bedding & Upholstery/Stuffed Toy/Boiler Certification/UCC Certification) is required to complete duties. Cross-train other clerical staff on division work-related duties dependent upon absences, reduction in staff, workloads, etc. Assist other divisions as needed Performs other duties as assigned. |
