Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Performs public safety work in the field of State Park operations and outdoor recreation in order to promote the safe utilization of facilities at Moraine State Park Complex. This position also serves as the primary contact at the Marina, McConnells Mill Historic Gristmill and Park Office when needed. Assists with the clerical functions at the Park's two marinas. Ensures visitor safety, provides patrons with information and educates the public about park rules and regulations, and protects park resources. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Provides information, rules, and regulations to park visitors; ensuring posters, bulletin boards and signs are current and serviceable; directs park visitors away from hazardous and unsafe conditions and/or situations; educates patrons on use of park resources and facilities in designated area, including guided trail hikes, park history, water recreation activities, beach and bathing areas, and environmental features. Checks buildings, structures, facilities, and park grounds for security and safety issues; conducts beach inspections utilizing check list and policy standards; reports rule and regulation violations to appropriate personnel; ensures assigned equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition performing related maintenance and custodial duties where appropriate. Conducts litter pick-up where appropriate and as assigned. Utilizes the park's revenue and reservation system to process renewal payments, point of sale (POS) items, launch permits and agreement payments. Davis Hollow Marina: Utilizes the Park Revenue and Reservation System (PRRS) to process mooring reservations, including receiving payment, utilizing waiting list and transfer list features to assign slips in correct order, processing early departures and issuing refunds. Checks-in marina patrons and issues mooring permits, assigns mooring decals, and inspects boats at the beginning of the season and throughout the season as needed and checks marina patrons out for the season. Through the PRRS, maintains computerized and paper back-up waiting and transfer lists for marina spaces and ensures slips are filled according to marina regulations. Responsible for closing out and reporting the gas sales at the end of each day and the end of month close out reports. Responsible to work the gas pumps for park staff and park patrons. Maintains and monitors public-accessible rescue equipment and public safety-first aid kits; responding to emergency situations, such as water and automobile accidents to ensure visitor safety; in cases of emergency makes appropriate notification to emergency personnel; administers first-aid and/or cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as necessary to injured park visitors. Assists in search and rescue operations. Areas of responsibility are throughout Moraine State Park Complex boundaries and include all park facilities, cabin colony, day use areas, roads, trails, and lakes, including beach and shower houses, comfort stations and sun-bathing areas. This may require the position to operate a (motor vehicle, ATV, bicycle, or boat) to monitor park grounds at Moraine and McConnells Mill State Park. Assists in providing information, making reservations, issuing launch permits, checking boat mooring information at park offices using the park reservation and revenue program. Answers telephones and either provides information to the caller or transfers to the appropriate staff member and takes messages. Answers written queries from prospective park users. Operates the base radio to assist field personnel in emergencies or personnel coordination. Assist in park resource management and trail maintenance projects. Works with volunteers. Aids with buoy placement at beginning of boating season, removal at end of season and cleaning and proper storage of buoys. Keeps logs on any maintenance issues or damaged buoys. |
