Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This position entails semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance of state park operations and outdoor recreation with a primary work and reporting location at Keystone State Park. Similar work may take place on a temporary basis at other state parks on an as needed basis. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker. Work involves the use of a large variety of construction and maintenance equipment and tools in many different tasks, which frequently require the application of skills acquired on the job. Responsibilities also include routine park maintenance such as cleaning latrines and other buildings, litter pick-up, beach and turf maintenance, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Work is assigned in the form of oral or written instructions and is reviewed upon completion for adherence to standards, completeness and quality by a technical, professional or administrative supervisor. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Provides assistance to park patrons and explains park rules and regulations. Practices safety in all aspects of the job and on a daily basis. Assists in implementing an active safety program by reviewing safety procedures on a regular and daily basis. Assist in the annual inventory of supplies, equipment and tools. Operates vehicles and equipment. Assists other maintenance personnel with the following tasks including, but not limited to: Operate mowers, UTV's, weed-eaters, chains saws and other equipment as required Assemble picnic tables Repair footbridges Maintain and repair roofs Build window frames, display cases and various other wooden pieces Install paneling, molding, and trim inside buildings Related carpentry work Related masonry work Clean out plumbing traps and remove plumbing drainage clogs Replace 110 outlets, circuit breakers and lighting fixtures Painting and staining buildings Assists with all work related to park maintenance, including litter pick-up, cleaning of all facilities, and opening/closing of facilities. Assists in other work and tasks performed: 1. Trails - removes brush and fallen trees; assists in the maintenance and construction on bridges. 2. Beach - placement of safety buoys; performs daily maintenance on sand; installs and performs maintenance on ADA railing and walkways; prepares beach for operations by installing lifeguard chairs, transporting supplies to lifeguard building, harrowing beach and assisting with installation of buoy lines; draws lake down annually for pushing and replenishment of sand. 3. Campground - maintains sites and roadway; ensure sites are clean and free of debris; keeps fire rings clean and replaces when needed; ensures playground equipment is safe and operable. 4. Roads - clean drains, ditches and culverts, repairs potholes. 5. Park Signs - maintains and constructs, paints, and places signs as directed. Performs and records routine equipment maintenance, repair and upkeep for large and small equipment. Performs additional and related work as required, to include resource management work through mechanical herbicide and prescribed fire treatment methods. |
