Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is a seasonal Park Maintenance Worker position at White Clay Creek Preserve and Big Elk Creek State Park. Schedule may vary to include working weekends and holidays.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Major duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning park facilities, including restrooms,
emptying trash receptacles, picking up litter, cleaning drains and culverts, mowing and string trimming grass and weeds, removal of invasive species and maintaining trails.

Perform basic repairs in plumbing such as repairing or replacing faucets, toilets, urinals, sump pumps, etc.

Perform basic repairs in electrical such as replacing receptacles, switches, light fixtures, etc.

Mow with zero turn mowers and operate UTV. Do general maintenance and repairs of equipment. Record use of gasoline, diesel fuel, mileage and equipment hours. Record maintenance and replacement parts used for equipment.

Painting and staining of park signs, kiosks, gates and trail bridges. Assist Maintenance Repairman in the repair of park facilities, perform routine maintenance to vehicles and equipment such as oil changes and power washing.

Use many power and hand tools in execution of park maintenance including but not limited to: chainsaw, generator, air compressor, string trimmers, circular saws, miter saws, drills, etc. Repair and maintain all these tools.

Assist Maintenance Repairman with removal of hazardous trees and storm damage.

Operate and maintain motor vehicles such as trucks and SUVs.

Perform other maintenance work as assigned.

Determine proper methods to follow and equipment needed to complete tasks.

Work is assigned verbally and in writing. Routine tasks are recognized by personal observation and adherence to seasonal patterns. Non-routine work is indicated by communication with supervisor and priorities are determined.

Work is reviewed by briefings with my supervisor and/or lead worker, visits to sites and review of completed tasks.

Experience:

Working outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, snow, extreme heat and humidity.
