Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position performs responsible professional, administrative, and supervisory work in support of the Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation (BEI). The role assists the Deputy Director with overseeing the daily operations of the Bureau’s four regional offices, the Charities Investigation Unit (CIU), and BEI headquarters. The position helps manage operational, fiscal, and administrative functions and provides guidance, analysis, and recommendations to support effective enforcement of laws, regulations, and professional standards under the authority of the Secretary of the Commonwealth.

Description of Duties:

Program and Operational Support

Coordinates the activities of the CIU, and statewide inspection and enforcement programs.

Reviews reports, case files, and program data for accuracy and completeness, and provides feedback to CIU supervisors and staff.

Assists in monitoring investigative, inspection, and citation activities to ensure compliance with established policies and standards.

Provides technical assistance on routine or moderately complex cases and investigations.

Supervisory and Administrative Support

Assists in supervising assigned staff, including training, work assignments, and performance feedback.

Prepares draft correspondence, reports, and presentations for Bureau leadership.

Assists in resolving minor employee or program-related issues, referring complex matters to higher-level management.

Supports budget, procurement, and resource management activities by collecting data and preparing recommendations.

Policy and Compliance

Assists in developing, implementing, and communicating Bureau policies, procedures, and training materials.

Reviews statistical and operational data to identify trends and recommend improvements.

Participates in program reviews, audits, or studies related to inspections, Act 48 citations, or charities investigations.

External and Interagency Relations

Represents the Bureau in meetings, hearings, or workgroups as assigned.

Maintains effective working relationships with boards, commissions, Department offices, and partner agencies.

Prepares information and responses for inquiries from stakeholders, law enforcement partners, and the public.

General

Assists in the completion of special projects, studies, and initiatives related to enforcement operations.

Travels statewide as required to support Bureau functions.

Performs related work as required to advance the Bureau’s mission.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Director. The employee exercises judgment in reviewing cases, assisting with program operations, and providing recommendations to Bureau leadership. Decisions are typically limited to program coordination, staff support, and operational problem-solving within established policies and procedures. Complex or precedent-setting issues are referred to higher-level management for resolution.
