Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Under the direct supervision of a Vocational Rehabilitation Instructor Supervisor, performs the following responsibilities. Instruct and supervise students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program, Center for Occupational Readiness, and other programs in formal classroom, supervised laboratory, and/or externship settings. Subjects taught based upon qualifying work experience and education include but are not limited to remedial education courses, applied general education courses, introduction to early childhood education, child development and learning; children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development; health and safety in early childhood programs; and professionalism and career development. Provides instruction to and mentors students to help prepare them to adequately perform as employees and professionals in the field of their training. Provides formal classroom, laboratory and/or workplace-based instruction through prepared lessons, lectures, computer assisted instruction, audiovisual aids, discussion, textbooks, reference materials, demonstrations, simulation, research, reading assignments, and other accepted methods of imparting information to meet the needs of the group and individual. Provides accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Remains up to date in teaching modalities and strategies for effective learning of individuals with alternate needs in the classroom and/or supervised laboratory setting. Prepares, administers and grades written, oral and skills examinations. Assigns work projects, reports, and out of class assignments all of which are corrected and reviewed with students. Schedules and supervises students at practicum/externship sites. Maintains and submits accurate grade and attendance records. Evaluates and records each student’s monthly academic and attendance progress and submits student progress data to supervisor and counselors. Participates in progress review staffing of students regularly during the term and as needed. Communicates via email, telephone, and meeting with CTI at HGAC counselors, instructors, supervisors, and other staff to maintain a cohesive, integrated program relative to the student or for the general student welfare. Attends Education Division, Center and other meetings as directed my management. Serves on various CTI at HGAC committees. Recommends, requisitions, and maintains a supply of instructional textbooks, materials, supplies, and equipment as needed. Assists vocational rehabilitation counselors and evaluators in the evaluation of a student’s potential for training and employment by observation of social behavior and academic abilities. Assists supervisory and administrative staff in program development and implementation; participates in inter-divisional functions as necessary. Maintains order and discipline and an educational environment conducive to learning. Helps students develop norms to enable them to work harmoniously with classmates and staff. Serves as an academic student advisor. Prepares student schedules, reviews grades, and advises students throughout their training program. Serves as a substitute instructor when other instructors are absent or unable to cover their class. Provides tours of HGAC as needed. Arranges and conducts field trips as needed. Provides WIOA compliant and PETS services. Assists with fire drills and other emergency situations. Conducts Program Advisory Committee meetings as required. Perform other related duties as requested by administration. |
