Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Review clemency applications received and clearly communicate with applicant/representative when additional information is required for eligible cases, then amend applications as necessary. This is complex work involving attention to detail and accuracy in the review of an application, court documents, and criminal history records. Utilize the Board of Pardons' records system to officially file clemency applications for investigation by the Department of Corrections, and ultimately for the Board’s review. Ensure appropriate documentation and notification in compliance with the Board's regs. Prepare cases for merit review by the Board though careful review of the confidential investigative reports to identify victim information in compliance with Act 59, proper documentation of crimes, and reporting of additional criminal history and police contacts. Assist in writing and/or proofing analysis reports for review by the Board and partner agencies. Upon Governor’s action, assist in with the entry of Governor’s decision, the generation of notifications, mailing, and completion of appropriate memos to all interested parties, as directed. Maintain certification and access to JNET and CLEAN. Access and request criminal history records, secure dockets, driving records, and/or notifications about prior or current applicants from these systems. Communicate clearly and effectively with applicants and their representatives about the Board's policies and procedures and about possible outcomes in the clemency process. Aid applicants and their representatives with use of the electronic application system, as needed. Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders, courts, arresting agencies, Department of Corrections staff, the Board Secretary, and others to gather information necessary to file an application and prepare an analysis report, or any other information about the applicant deemed necessary by the Secretary. Attend Board of Pardons hearings as directed. Coordinate and/or complete special projects or assignments, as directed. Assist in compliance with document retention and archiving, as directed. Performs other related duties as required. |
