Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Moving PennDOT Forward Objectives: MAINTENANCE 1. Following rules and procedures and working in a safe manner. CUSTOMER SERVICE 1. When possible, going to the extra mile to satisfy customer needs and expectations. TEAM PENNDOT 1. Understand the importance of teamwork and work very well as a team player. Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties such as installation of hand dryer components, electrical switches, wall plugs and lighting fixtures; replaces worn out parts on plumbing fixtures and soap dispensers, works at maintaining a variety of buildings or accessory structures using lumber, piping, concrete or structural steel. Selects proper tools and equipment for assigned projects. Paints interior and exterior structures and pavement markings, mowing of grass, pet control signing, snow removal, litter pick-up, leaf removal, refinishes picnic table parts, and janitorial service to buildings. Operates and maintains power and hand tolls related to the performance of the above duties. Works irregular shifts. Operates hand and riding mowers in mowing grass, uses trimming and cutting tools around trees, chain saws when necessary to cut larger trees/branches. Operates small tractor and snow shovel throughout the roadside rest area. Licensed to operate, maintain, test and log data on an extended aeration sewage treatment plant and a public water works plant serving the Interstate Roadside Rest Areas. Also licensed to apply select herbicide spray materials on right-of-way. Exposed to numerous types of chemical hazards. Must be able to properly fill out MV-614's for proper and efficient documentation of all items on a MV-614. SEMP Recognizes the need for environmental practices and applies them in their daily activities;Attends environmental training designated for their position and supports the efforts of other employees to meet these objectives. SAFETY 1. Assess your environment and be responsible for your safety, the safety of co-workers, and the public. 2. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies, and laws. 3. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice, or near miss. 4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.) know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident. SUCCESSION PLANNING Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees. SEMP/PennDOT Green Plan Policy: Recognizing that everyone is involved in the District's and County's actions to demonstrate sound environmental practices, each employee fulfills the maintenance unit business plan objectives related to the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Commit to following the Department's Green Plan Policy (Pub 712) and the associated principles. Failure to comply with the Department Green Plan policy shall be documented in employee's performance review. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Unless directed otherwise by your supervisor or manager, comply with stated work hours for the 7.5 hour day. |
