Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position, in the Bureau of Immunizations, Division of Immunizations Field Services, supports the organization’s mission of achieving maximum immunization coverage in order to eliminate the occurrence of vaccine preventable diseases in Pennsylvania through its responsibility for monitoring and enforcing compliance with the VFC program. This position requires extensive travel within the assigned district and occasionally throughout the state. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. • Provides oversight of the appropriate use of Vaccines for Children (VFC) program vaccines through the administration of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) grant. • Perform site visits using CDC PEAR, RedCap, PIERS, SILR and other programs to ensure providers comply with standards to continue to participate with the program. • Educate providers, public, and staff using CDC, Immunization Action Coalition, or other approved materials to update others with evolving medical developments and vaccine recommendations. • Implement vaccine accountability policies and procedures in coordination with VFC providers to ensure compliance with VFC grant • Coordinate with community partners in the region to increase the demand for vaccine by participating in mass-vaccination clinics, immunization coalitions, and other public health activities. • Works as a team with the other CHNs to arrange visits and education to all providers, community members, and organizations. • Develops creative and cost-effective solutions for complex and/or unique problems associated with implementing immunization services. Promotes immunization activities in minority and disparity populations. • Attends training and seminars to increase skills and knowledge of immunization administration guidelines. • Performs clinical practices applicable for nursing in the provisions of public health services according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Standing Orders to ensure consistency and quality of public health services. • Provides guidance to other Department of Health staff in regard to surveillance and case investigations as needed for vaccine preventable diseases and perinatal hepatitis B cases. • Identifies and reports potential programmatic fraud and abuse. Serves in a back-up capacity to other areas of the state as is necessary. • Provides education and resources, in collaboration with OCDEL, to schools and childcare group settings regarding immunization schedules and records as directed. • Assists with obtaining and entering vaccine records for children enrolled at Amish and Mennonite schools. • Assists with special initiatives and projects as requested by supervisory staff. • Carries out essential job functions or assigned emergency duties which may involve assignments within the DOH command center, deployment to a field location to participate in public health activities or other duties as required during periods of emergency. If received, emergency assignments may be performed under adverse conditions or continue for periods ranging from a few hours to several weeks. • Performs all other related work and duties, as required. |

This position is required to utilize sound judgement and critical thinking based upon consult with provided resources and individuals. This position does not supervise, manage, or serve as a lead worker to any other staff. |
