Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position provides advanced professional support in the development and preparation of highly visible and sensitive internal and external information through all public relations media to further public understanding of department objectives, functions and accomplishments.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Writes, edits and gathers information for Secretary remarks and speeches.

Provides information to Press Secretary and Communications Director to respond to inquiries from media and other members of the public.

Represents the Office of Communications at department strategy meetings.

Coordinate with program staff for communications and media strategy, including social media.
Develop and maintain subject matter expertise for assigned programs and subjects and demonstrate that expertise to supervisor and other senior staff. This position is responsible for assigned subject matter areas based on needs of the office.
Lead and/or assist other communications staff in writing, editing and distributing press releases, newspaper articles, website updates, brochures, pamphlets or educational materials.

Serves as the lead coordinator for Communications official documents - known as the Content Coordinator

Serves as Communications Publication Officer (provides authorization to print for certain DEP official documents)
