Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This is marketing and strategic planning work to plan and direct the wildlife education programs and activities of the Northwest region. Provide wildlife education to schools, conservation organizations, community groups and interested parties throughout the ten northwestern counties of the state. |
Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This is fieldwork under the supervision of the Regional Director. The work will include but not be limited to the following: Develop a regional grassroots network consisting of wildlife and conservation-focused groups within the region for the purpose of sharing agency information, as well as co-hosting events and partnership opportunities. Identify, plan and coordinate seasonal outreach events, meetings and volunteer opportunities within the region. Serve as an agency liaison and increase the agency's presence at various events within the region while actively engaging with the public. Organize and order additional promotional and educational outreach items. Produce photo, video and written content from notable agency-related regional events and ongoing projects to be shared for agency promotion. Regularly coordinate with the agency's Bureau of Marketing and Strategic Communications to provide information about past and future agency related happenings for the purpose of agency promotion. Establish a relationship with outdoor writers and/or journalists within the region to pitch agency-related content and assist with providing necessary photos and information. Develop and coordinate wildlife education events within the region focused on specific issues, for example, Chronic Wasting Disease Management or other current issues. Create and provide wildlife education programs to area schools, conservation organizations, community groups and interested parties throughout the region. Conduct and assist with pre-service and in-service training programs for schools and post-secondary institutions on a variety of wildlife-related topics. Assist with R3 initiatives, agency Marketing events, Learn to Hunt and Trap events, and Shooting Sports events in the region. Maintain region's social media accounts. Assist in development on content for displays during planning and construction of the Pymatuning Learning Center. Guide and assist local communities and organizations in the development of urban watchable wildlife programs and wildlife habitat restoration projects. Write and implement educational grants. Assist the Information and Education Supervisor and Wildlife Conservation Officers with developing, facilitating and conducting participation at county youth conservation camps, youth field days, hunter education programs and other youth events. Assist the Information and Education Supervisor and Wardens with setting up and manning exhibits. Assist Wardens with developing and conducting educational programs. Assist State National Archery in the Schools Coordinator by organizing and facilitating regional NASP events. Performs other duties as assigned Essential Functions: 1. Communicate effectively orally and in writing 2. Maintain effective working relationships. 3. Travel overnight for work requirements both in and out of Pennsylvania. 4. Adjust work schedule as required to meet program needs.Weekend and evening work required. 5. Interpret rules, regulations and policies 6. Use computer and office equipment. 7. Lift and transport heavy objects up to 120 lbs. 8. Develop and conduct training programs. 9. Utilizes the full spectrum of supervisory responsibilities for staff. 10. Develop, prepare and review reports and work plans. |

If decisions require change to established protocol, questions are referred to Region Director for approval. Answers most public inquiries directly without review by supervisor. |
