Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Receives, opens, sorts, batches, delivers all incoming and outgoing work for BMV and BDL.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Receives mail from post office in bags and trays and certified registered mail at Dock where a signature is required.

Sorts through the mail to separate out BMV and BDL work and place in proper grey bin for delivery purposes.

Opens, sorts, mends torn mail, log and scan bulk packages.

Open envelopes using a mail slitter machine and keeps the machine properly cleaned.

Bulk packages are scanned and logged into the WTS System by a handheld scanner. Information is downloaded from handheld scanner into the WTS System.

Read addresses to distinguish between pipeline and work to be delivered to different areas.

Make at least (2) trips daily for pickup and delivery of mail.

Removes all work from envelopes, flattens all sheet work, removes staples and paper clips.

Mends any torn documents with tape, reads form numbers and assembles checks and documents and places in transporters per CARATS and DL sort procedures.

Employees must meet a monthly expectation/goal of 70-79 pieces of mail per hour daily.

Log and date stamp all On-Line Messenger work.

Contact internal customers via e-mail or phone call when their area has bulk packages at Dock.

Complete batch header and places applications in transporter or folders.

Places miscellaneous applications in proper bins to be sorted and batched at back mail table.

Distribute and pick up work from Mail Opening employees.

Place work on shelves for Key Entry area on an as needed basis.

Regular rotation at dock is required.

Must be able to work overtime when requested by Bureau.

Performs other related work duties as assigned.

SAFETY REQUIRMENTS:

4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.), know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident.

5. Employees must wear safety gloves when assigned to duties that require them.

Work is received from the post office and inner-office mail. Work is then reviewed by reading the envelope to determine its destination. A predetermined amount of unopened mail is delivered to the employee. The employee must decide where these applications or correspondence should be routed.
