Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is responsible for the transportation and delivery of select applications, documents, mail, license plates and other goods to and from offices at the Riverfront Office Center and other facilities in the Harrisburg area, and to Driver License Centers across the Commonwealth. Operates a non-commercial van or a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) box truck as necessary between locations. Driver and Vehicle Services processes millions of transactions annually with billions of dollars in fees and taxes. The timely and accurate distribution of mail, documents and products is a critical component ensuring swift delivery of service to the citizens of Pennsylvania.

Reports to a Clerical Supervisor 2 in the Bureau of Motor Vehicles’ Receiving and Depositing Section

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

The primary duty of is the pickup, transport and delivery of applications, form requests. etc. from areas within Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) at the Riverfront Office (ROC), for distribution to other PennDOT facilities and other agencies. These shuttles to other PennDOT facilities and other agencies with the commonwealth must occur three to four times daily. During peak seasons, must be available for overtime hours to alleviate workload.

Picks up items at the Riverfront Office Center, sorts items according to delivery pattern and transports to various locations, mainly in the Capitol Complex, via commonwealth van. Makes deliveries and picks up items for return trip delivery to the ROC.

Using a cart, transports items to designated areas and distributes to appropriate personnel. Hand delivers items to others areas or to specific employees within the Commonwealth.

Delivers deposits from DVS to the Office of the Comptroller, as needed.

Picks up trays or tubs of mail from the Post Office, as needed. Slit mail using an electronic mail slitting machine. Sorts, opens and delivers mail from the U.S. Post Office and interoffice mail

As directed, makes pickup and delivery using a commonwealth enclosed box truck CMV with a GVWR of 35,000 lbs.

CMV activities include but are not limited to:
• Picks up carts of mail from the Post Office and delivers to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles’ Receiving and Depositing Section.
• Picks up forms, license plates and other supplies from Commonwealth warehouse facilities and transport to the ROC
• Delivers forms, products and other supplies to Driver License Centers across the state
• Transports secure dumpsters of documentation to the incinerator for destruction
• Transports supplies, reports and select output to various destinations.
• Performs manual labor loading and unloading trucks.
• Receives, pulls and transports daily orders for various license plates and stickers.

Operates a forklift and power jack. Performs limited maintenance of forklift and power jack.

Complies with the DVS Customer Service Policy.

Maintains vehicle log records.

Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brakes Restriction (L) removed.

Must possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with FMCSA regulations.

This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

Performs other related work duties as assigned.

The Equipment Operator B gets assignments from management throughout Driver and Vehicle Services. The employee determines whether he/she hand delivers it or if it goes to the mailroom for routing.
