Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. The employee in this position is assigned to the dietary dept. This position has limited direct care interaction, but the employee is expected to interact with adult and geriatric populations, as appropriate. Specific duties include: Assists with set-up and/or assembly of the trayline for assigned meals, following established guidelines. Works all positions on the trayline as assigned. Operates and maintains tray wash machine and tray wash area, dish machine and dish machine area, according to established guidelines. Completes assigned cleaning duties meeting all standards of sanitation. Cleans floors, machines, counters, tables, chairs, walls and other item(s) assigned. Also cleans any food service utensils/service ware requiring the loading of baskets of these items into institutional model dishwashing equipment and removing them from the dishwashing equipment. Disposes of garbage by lifting and/or pushing or in any other manner, which results in the disposition. Operates a floor scrubber. Works in conditions that are, at times, hot, cold, and uncomfortable. Labels and packs various nourishments and in-between feedings, following established guidelines. Portions food items according to counts and portion sizes indicated on menus/portioning sheets. Grills simple food items such as eggs and sandwiches, steams and boils vegetables, fries, grills and mashes potatoes, prepares sandwiches, tosses, blends, molds and assembles salads. Chops and grinds meats, pans meats, slices meats and cheeses. Follows safe food handling practices. Delivers meal trays, nourishments and other required food/supplies according to established standards/schedules. All pick-ups are also made according to established standards/schedules. Complies with dietary instructions, policies and procedures. Loads and moves carts from/to various areas. Communicates effectively with patient and staff. Lifst/carries/moves heavy items, including but not limited to elevator doors, boxes, crates, trays, etc. Records equipment temperatures. Attends departmental and hospital in-service training sessions and meetings. Fulfills assignment in Pot and Pan Room area according to established standards: Scrapes and rinses soiled pots and pans. Loads and unloads dishmachine. Air-dries clean pots and pans and white tubs and returns them to storage for future use. Monitors and records temperature of machine. Fulfills assignment in Ingredient Room according to established standards: Unloads food and supply trucks. Transports food and supplies to kitchen and ingredient rooms, stocks food and supplies in freezers, coolers and ingredient rooms. Rotates stock. All equipment will be used following proper procedures, including but not limited to elevators, slicers, dishwashing machines, floor scrubbers, carts, etc. Performs repetitious work |
