Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides public safety work in the field of State Park operations and outdoor recreation in order to promote the safe utilization of facilities at a State Park. Provides clerical and office support at the Raccoon Creek State Park Complex to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, evening and holidays as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Ensures visitor safety, provides visitors with information, educates the public on a variety of topics including park rules and regulations, and protects park resources by performing work in multiple facets of park operations. Interacts with park visitors to answer questions regarding facilities, recreational schedules, park history and environmental features, and the local area. Assist with interpretive programs and conducts campground programs. Greets visitors at the Raccoon Creek Park Office, Raccoon Creek Campground Contact Station and throughout park and provides information to park visitors. Answers telephone inquiries and transfers to the appropriate personnel when necessary. Assists clerical staff at the Campground Contact Station and Park Office. Helps to maintain organized workspace at Contact Station and Park Office. Trains new employees in campground procedures. Applies parking pass protocol for various reservable areas. Creates and edits reservations for all reservable facilities as well as boat mooring and launch permits. Acts as a point of contact for reservations related to organized group camps to include but not be limited to scheduling, billing, restitution, check in and check out. Routinely utilizes POS system to handle money and helps prepare deposits for money collected. Money collected includes rental fees from group camps, campground, organized group tenting, pavilion rental, boat launch and mooring permits. Operates standard office equipment and utilizes a variety of software applications on Commonwealth computers. Stocks brochures at the Raccoon Creek State Park Office and Campground Contact Station and areas throughout park. Maintains a variety of logs and enters information into databases to support park operations per standard policies and procedures. Oversees informational books for cabin renters that contain emergency information, as well as local attractions and event schedules. Updates these books annually. Handles incoming and outgoing office mail and distributes to proper personnel. Directs park visitors away from hazardous and unsafe conditions or situations. Responds to emergency situations, such as water and automobile accidents to ensure visitor safety. In cases of emergency, makes appropriate notification to emergency personnel. Administers first-aid and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as necessary to injured park visitors. Assists in search and rescue operations within State Park grounds and boundaries. Maintains and monitors public-accessible beach rescue equipment and public safety first aid kits. Inspects park areas by various motorized vehicles, bicycle, boat and on foot. Explains park rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to visitors. Areas of responsibility are throughout Raccoon Creek State Park boundaries and include all park facilities, campground and day use areas, roads, trails, and lakes, including beach and bathing areas Informs Park Manager or DCNR Ranger if visitor actions require law enforcement actions. Inspects buildings, structures, facilities, and park grounds for security and safety. Reports rules and regulation violations to appropriate personnel. Operates park radio, transmits messages and coordinates communication as the park’s base contact utilizing established radio equipment. Ensures posters, bulletin boards, and signs are current and serviceable. Ensures assigned equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition by performing related maintenance and custodial duties where appropriate. Assist at the beach area to include ground maintenance, buoy line/depth marker maintenance, water samples, and all required reports. May be assigned to the beach area during high-use weekends and holidays to ensure public safety. Distributes camping permits to campsites. Other duties as assigned. |

Employee works with considerable independence within standard operating procedure and established processes, however, detailed supervisory guidance and review is received for new or unusual situations and changes in operating procedure or policies. Decides when to appropriate cancellation fees for park facilities according to PRRS rules. Decides how to prioritize workload. Decides when issues with park visitors demand management attention. Employee determines if park rules and regulations are being violated, and responds accordingly, informing Park Manager or DCNR Ranger if further action is warranted. Employee determines and addresses safety concerns within the park; answers questions from the public regarding the park’s features and activities; and recognizes and responds to emergency situations. |
