Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is a position performing semi-skilled manual work involving a variety of tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of state forest roads, buildings, trails, grounds and other facilities and land based resources within an assigned area of the Susquehannock State forest.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs basic manual work using a variety of tools including hand, power, shop, carpentry and mechanic tools to perform basic construction, maintenance and repair projects.
May operate tractors, mowers in order to accomplish designated projects.
Performs preventative and maintenance work on tools and equipment.
The employee may be required to work a non-standard schedule and work overtime as situations require.
Approximately 50% of the employee’s time will be spent on manual work, 25% operating appropriate classed equipment, 10% on maintenance, 5% on training and 10% on miscellaneous duties.
Responds to fire calls and fights wildfires when needed.

Receives oral and written instructions from a Forest Maintenance Supervisor. The employee makes routine on the job decisions needed for the employee to complete assigned tasks according to the instructions of the supervisor.
