Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Processes computer generated mail output on various Bell & Howell automated inserting machines such as Automatic In-Line Mailing system and Mailstar 500 inserting equipment so that Department customers can receive materials mandated by the Motor Vehicle Code.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Operates Bell & Howell AIMS inserting equipment.

Programs machine as part of daily start-up procedure.

Loads equipment with specific continuous form output, cutsheet output, letsets, titles, etc. and corresponding inserts for that output.

Reads verification reports to match output.

Keeps machine bins filled with card stock, envelopes and like materials.

Verifies that work coming off machines is correct (address showing through window envelope right side up e.g.) and places it in cardboard or plastic trays.

Performs minor machine repairs and adjustments.

Loads mail on cart and transports loaded cart to assigned area within Mail Processing.

Operates miscellaneous processing equipment including, electronic scales, metering machines, folders and scalers.

Hand encloses mail output and also prepares packages for mailing.

Other related job duties as required.

Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees.

Decision Making:
Describe the types of decisions made by the incumbent of this position and the types of decisions referred to others. Identify the problems or issues that can be resolved at the level of this position, versus those that must be referred to the supervisor. Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature.

Verify accuracy of daily output.

Determines specific continuous form output, cutsheet output, letsets, titles, and corresponding inserts for that particular output.

Determines when machine need to be filled with appropriate card stock, envelopes and like materials.
