Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Maintains and repairs county maintenance office properties (building, stockpiles, etc.). Assists in performing daily building inspections to ensure general good upkeep and safety of the building and surrounding areas. Maintains and repairs electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire safety systems; and recommends any follow-up/additional work. Monitors and recommends adjustments to the building's HVAC system. Monitors HVAC controls/computers and programs. Selects proper tools and equipment to complete assigned projects. Aids diesel mechanics complete major repairs to equipment and vehicles. Makes building forms for building/repairing retaining walls, sidewalks, and other masonry items. Cleans and paints interiors and exteriors of buildings and stockpiles. Assists highway maintenance crews and construction crews complete work as needed. Monitors terms of contractors for pest control and cleaning services for adherence. Opens blocked drains, repairs leaky faucets, replaces flush valves. Replaces bulbs, shades, ballasts, outlets, switches, and assists with finding contractors for major electrical repairs. Builds doors, lays floor coverings, makes repairs to floors. Repairs broken doors and locks. Mixes cement and plaster. Installs and makes repairs to drywall. Assists Bridge Crew with detailed concrete work. Assists garage and field crew staff by running for parts. Works with the Sign Crew replacing and/or installing large signs as needed. Monitors safety supplies and inspects fire extinguishers at all stockpiles. Uses motorized and non-motorized hand tools such as shovels, chain saws, and mowers. Uses and maintains tools and equipment to minimize wear and breakage. Removes snow from sidewalks and parking lots using basic snow removal equipment. Keeps sidewalks clear of debris. Receives emergency maintenance calls at times and conducts and on-site review of the emergency. Performs other duties as required. SEMP (all employees): Recognizing that everyone is involved in the District’s and County’s actions to demonstrate sound environmental practices, each employee fulfills the maintenance unit business plan objectives related to the Strategic Environmental Management Plan (SEMP). Safety (Employees): 1. Assess your environment and be responsible for your safety, the safety of co-workers, and the public. 2. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies, and laws. 3. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice, or near miss. 4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.), know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident. Succession Planning (Employees): Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Unless directed otherwise by your supervisor or manager, comply with stated work hours for the 7.5/8.0-hour day. Green Plan Policy: Commit to following the Department's Green Plan Policy (PUB 712) and the associated principles. Failure to comply with Department Green Plan Policy shall be documented in employee's performance review. |
