Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provide customer contact in assigned sales territory, utilizing tools at this individual's disposal. These include, but are not limited to PowerPoint presentations, brochures, catalogs, special sheets, etc. In this manner, handle customer inquiries as well as making cold calls to further Correctional Industries' sales. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Establishes contacts with officials of state aided and/or owned institutions and agencies, schools and political subdivisions to promote and arrange for the sale of a variety of prison made products and services. Conducts presentations and meet with customers to gather information on customer preference and discuss their needs and future demands of the operations they are responsible for. Attends conventions/conferences as deemed necessary by the Sales and Marketing Manager as a representative of PA Bureau of Correctional Industries; distributes information concerning correctional industry products through catalogs, price lists, samples and brochures. Prepares scheduling calendars, activity reports and correspondence to Central Office regarding activities, updates, problems, ideas and concerns. Acts as liaison between customers and Correctional Industries (CI) shops and headquarters. Visits CI shops to maintain familiarity with products and services provided. Prepares reports on comments and recommendations regarding workmanship, deliveries and other related issues as well as sales and marketing ideas. Answers inquiries concerning CI products. Maintains customer records and prepares weekly activity reports. Ensures maintenance and care of an assigned state vehicle, equipment, supplies and product samples assigned. Follows-up on customer account activity, issues and concerns. Assists in the development of sales and marketing efforts of new and existing products and services and distribution of marketing literature and promotional items that promote CI. Responds to customer calls and inquiries. Prepares customer orders and price quotes. Maintains as needed contact with Sales and Marketing Supervisor or designee to determine changes in functions. Adheres to written Job Performance Standards for type and number of customer calls, overnight travel policy, business mileage requirements, and other territory management measurements. Performs other related duties as required. |

Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. The incumbent must exercise good decision- making skills in determining how to best and properly present products/services to current and potential customers, both in medium and scope of contact. Contacts can be made in person, via phone, e-mail, and at trade shows. Questions and issues that cannot be resolved at the level of the assigned incumbent are to be directed to the Supervisor. |
