Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Performs skilled journey level maintenance and repair work on district office building facilities and equipment.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs maintenance and repairs on work involving electrical, plumbing on buildings and grounds on district office.

Assists Information Technology (IT) Coordinator on installing wires, running cable, running conduit, installing boxes, and pulling wire for electrical, LAN, and telephone throughout the district as needed.

Install and maintain plumbing fixtures; open blocked drains; repair leaky faucets, and other plumbing fixtures as required; measures, cuts, threads, and installs pipe for water and sewer lines.

Replace bulbs, ballasts, shades, switches.

Assists electricians in electrical maintenance at District and county buildings as well as Highway Lighting installation and repairs; installs electrical circuits, wall plugs and lighting fixtures; checks repairs and emergency lighting; and repairs and reconditions fans.

Performs masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walks, curbs and walls; builds wooden concreate forms; mixes cement and plaster; helps lay blocks, bricks, and pour concrete; finishes concrete; and makes plaster repairs.

Performs repairs to roofs; installs flashing and spouts; and cleans roof and drains as needed.

Performs onsite assistance to contractors working on repairing and adjusting heating systems, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Paints and decorates interior of buildings; paints buildings, rooms, walls or other surfaces as assigned.

Performs office construction; repairs doors, frames, and furniture; installs partitions and fabrication; lays tiles; makes repairs to floors, takes out and replaces screens as needed; installs and repairs broken windows, repairs door checks, thresholds, and locks; frames walls. Hangs drywall; performs spackling; installs drop ceilings; builds furniture and performs other carpentry work as required. Orders and picks up these supplies.

Maintains building grounds; mows laws, fertilizes lawns and plants, prunes and mulches trees and shrubs, plants flowers, cleans leaves, clears walks and parking lots of snow, ice, anti-skid, etc,; loads, unloads, and transports materials/supplies by motorized forklift, hand truck,etc.

Operates and maintains drills, power saws, and related power and hand tools to perform assigned duties.

Assist with district fire drills.

Attend job conference meetings at district and County offices as needed.

Assist Facility Operations Supervisor in preforming stockpile assessments.

Delivers and picks up mail at the post office.

Follows proper attendance and call off procedures. Schedules non-emergency absences in advance; observes start/stop times, breaks, and mealtime; works efficiently and effectively alone and with others; is available for overtime emergency responses; and minimizes nonproductive and down time.

Performs other duties as required.

Succession Planning:
Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees.

Department Green Plan Policy:
Commit to following the Department’s Green Plan Policy (Pub 712) and the associated principles. Failure to comply with the Department’s Green Plan Policy shall be documented in the employee’s performance review.

Fair Labor Standards Act:
Unless directed otherwise by your supervisor or manager, comply with stated work hours for the 7.5/8.0-hour day.

Work is assigned with both general and specific instruction by the district's Facility Operations Supervisor. Work is reviewed depending on the complexity of the project.

Essential Functions
: Provide a list of essential functions for this position. Example: Transports boxes weighing up to 60 pounds.
 
 1. Follow oral and written instructions.
 2. React to hazard warning devices, such as signs, sirens and alarms and chemicals within Safety Data Sheet (SDS) limits.
 3. Work outdoors under hazardous/adverse weather conditions, i.e. extreme temperatures.
 4. Withstand periods of heavy exertion, i.e. stand for extended periods of time and walk extended distances.
 5. Must be able to read blueprints and use a measuring tape.
 6. Work extended hours/emergency hours seasonally and/or on call beyond normal business hours Travel is required.
 7. Use required personal protective equipment and be responsible for its care, storage, and maintenance.
 8. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
 9. Bend, stoop, kneel, climb steep slopes, and climb into and onto heavy equipment & vehicles.
 10. Operate various hand and power tools which may involve constant periodic vibration.
