Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is responsible for training and overseeing inmate workers involved in the receiving, issuing, and storing of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment. The incumbent of this position may participate in the performance of the work completed by inmate workers assigned to SCI Houtzdale's Commissary Distribution Center. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 65% Oversees inmate workers in the completion of work assignments. Conducts inmate worker orientation, which includes reviewing facility and plant regulations, job requirements, safety tips, etc. Trains and monitors inmate workers in the preparation of shipping orders, invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, inventory records, sales summaries, production records, agency purchase requests, and other record keeping functions; packaging, labeling, storing, and shipping finished goods; and operating and/or maintaining equipment and machinery used in shipping and receiving. Prepares routine reports that include inmate attendance, transmission of invoices, lost hours, automotive, inmate bonuses, etc. Provides input into inmate worker performance reviews. 10% Inventories stock. Receives, stores, and issues supplies and raw materials. Prepares and submits requisitions for the replenishment of inventory. Prepares necessary paperwork to account for damaged goods and/or partial or incomplete orders shipped/received. 10% Operates motor vehicles, forklifts, or hand trucks to move oversized or heavy items, remove scrap materials, or make deliveries. l0% Safeguards work area. Issues and inventories all materials and tools used to complete work assignments. Searches inmates and work areas for contraband. 5% Performs other related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Exercise care, custody, and control over inmates 2. Apply physical force and intervention when appropriate and necessary 3. Demonstrate and oversee inmates in the standard principles and practices of storeroom operations 4. Reach, bend, stoop, pull, push, kneel, lift, climb, and grasp 5. Be mobile over all types of physical surfaces and levels 6. Spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking 7. Work all shifts and posts as required by operational necessities and emergencies 8. Work mandatory overtime in compliance with provisions of the Collective Bargaining 9. Agreement, with little or no advance notice, whether on or off duty a·t the time of notification 9. Maintain regular and reliable attendance 10. Operate basic office equipment 11. Use and maintain various equipment and tools 12. Maintain an active PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent in accordance with assigned work 13. Properly wear all portions of assigned uniform 14. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing 15. Establish and maintain effective working relationships 16. Hear and identify sounds (voices, whistle, buzzer, lock release, scuffling, sudden quiet) 17. Visually observe inmates' activities 18. Administer emergency medical assistance to inmates and staff 19. Receive, issue, and control inventory 20. Attend and participate in all mandatory training and/or testing 21. Travel as required |
