Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The employee in this position performs manual labor and provides essential support to maintenance personnel. Work involves the use of a variety of construction, groundskeeping, and maintenance equipment and tools, which frequently requires the application of skills acquired on the job. Minor repairs and routine grounds keeping are performed with considerable independence and reviewed upon completion. Under the guidance of maintenance staff, the employee may operate hand tools and make minor repairs. This role is for individuals seeking to develop technical skills while supporting a mission-critical team dedicated to excellence in maintenance and installation services. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assist various trades and maintenance repairmen with daily tasks in various skilled areas such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and Construction. Change filters in HVAC Systems and clean coils on units. Change filters in plumbing systems. Assist maintenance staff with manual labor tasks, such as nailing sheeting to studs, replacing light bulbs, cleaning work areas, discarding lumber pieces, and other used materials. Assist with preparing and painting interior and exterior areas (walls, floors, signs, ceilings, doors/door trim, etc.) Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning and oiling tools and equipment, and making minor repairs to assigned equipment. Learn various trade skills through mentoring by tradesmen. Cut grass with a push mower, riding mower, zero-turn lawn mower, and string trimmer. Trim trees and bushes. Assist in landscaping activities such as mulching, shoveling soil, and spreading wood chips, etc. Remove and dispose of weeds, dead branches, and debris. Rake leaves and clean up stones from roads and sidewalks. Dig and clean drainage ditches, culverts, and fill in washouts. Load and unload various supplies, move furniture, office supplies, materials, and other items as directed. Load and unload trucks with sand, gravel, ashes, recycled materials, etc., by hand or using a shovel. Set up and remove picnic tables, barricades, canopies, pallets, and other items. Cleaning the fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, including removing vehicle graphics. Fueling of the fleet vehicles and heavy equipment. Picking up / delivering parts and supplies. Remove snow and ice from roads, sidewalks, parking areas, etc, using a shovel, snow blower, or ice chopper. Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports the same to the supervisor.
