Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee in this position is responsible for operating various types of automotive equipment including single chassis trucks and vans, passenger vans, and buses, on and off the facility grounds.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Operate passenger cars, trucks, vans, buses, and invalid coach as needed to transport
residents on and off facility grounds to local and long distance destinations for medical
appointments, treatments, transfers, and activities.

Assist with and verify locking devices are properly affixed on residents and resident’s equipment prior to moving the vehicle to ensure the safety of the resident while in transport.

Make local and long distance pickup and delivery of materials, mail, supplies, drugs, blood samples, etc.

Haul materials used in construction, grounds or general maintenance work. Operate snow removal and cinder spreading equipment in inclement weather.

Complete safety checks and inspections of vehicles and equipment prior to operation.

Perform minor repairs, preventive maintenance, washing, waxing, cleaning, greasing, checking fluid levels, etc.

Perform department tasks when not operating vehicles or equipment such as: loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning work areas, maintaining records and logs of equipment use, and completing forms and paperwork, etc.

Use hand and power tools safely and properly.

**Maintain a Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Passenger Endorsement.**

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor.

Perform other related duties as required.

Essential Functions
