Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. As a Custodial Work Supervisor employee is primarily assigned to a specific building but may be asked to assist in any building at any time. -Schedules, assigns and supervises the work of a group of employees in the Custodial Services Department, performing a variety of cleaning in office buildings and treatment buildings, floor finishing, polishing and aseptic cleaning. -Instructs staff and ensures safety precautions are followed while performing cleaning and sanitation duties in the proximity of facility clients to prevent harm or injury to them, facility staff and visitors. -Assigns and supervises staff performing cleaning of client living, programming and treatment areas, lavatories and offices, and other services such as linen distribution/non-patient areas, window washing, snow removal at building entrance areas and walkways, collecting waste and infectious waste materials from patient rooms, infirmaries and/or laboratories for disposal, and supervises/monitors the performance of vector control activities. -Instructs staff on the proper use of cleaning equipment, detergents, disinfectants, floor finishes, chemicals and on safety precautions for handling toxic or potentially hazardous materials and infectious waste. -Prepares and maintains records and reports, submits requisitions for custodial services supplies, equipment, materials and recommends custodial services staffing needs. -Reports hazards, damages to door, windows, floors, walls, and inoperable equipment and prepares and submits work requests for needed repairs to equipment, furniture, fixtures and building structures as appropriate. -Assists the Manager in developing operating methods and procedures for the Custodial Services Department and in evaluating custodial services sanitary/aseptic standards. -Implements changes in custodial services methods, materials and equipment. |
