Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position performs preventative maintenance and repair work in several different trades within the Division of Installation Maintenance at Fort Indiantown Gap.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Receive emergency calls from the On-Call Supervisor. Respond to the emergency calls; make necessary repairs.

If unable to complete a task for any reason, communicate immediately to on-call supervisor.

Maintain daily communication with immediate supervisor in order to address outstanding tasks or to establish situational awareness.

Initiate communication with various trade shops as needed to discuss outstanding problems in any trade area.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all HVAC and plumbing systems.

Perform routine repairs and adjustments to HVAC systems/components according to a prescribed set of instructions. Resolve heating and cooling comfort issues; ensure settings are correct; and change filters.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems and plumbing systems as needed to ensure proper and efficient operations.

Perform basic electrical wiring/rewiring for new and old machinery and equipment and HVAC systems. Install and replace electrical components such as switches and receptacles.

Locate and correct power failures and short circuits. Replace 110/220 volt circuit breakers, receptacles and single or 3-way switches as required.

Maintain, repair or replace bathroom and kitchen fixtures such as faucets, showers, commodes, and sinks. Repair and replace flush controls. Unclog sewage drain lines using hand or mechanical drain cleaning equipment.

Perform general carpentry work related to alterations, repairs or maintenance of assigned facilities. Work may involve standard office requests such as painting, drywall patching, carpet tile replacement, floor tile repair, amongst other basic carpentry tasks.

Operate a variety of powered tools and equipment. Maintain assigned tools and equipment in good working condition.

Prepare material lists of assigned jobs, maintain records of work performed and material utilized. Ensure all unused material is returned to warehouse stock.

Assist with snow removal, grass cutting, and other grounds keeping duties.

Maintain knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, in the performance of assigned duties.

Exercise safety precautions of the trades.

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor.

Perform other related duties as required.

**Must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.**

Essential Functions
