Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is a professional forestry position within the Clear Creek Forest District. The main functions of this position are to perform a variety of technical forestry assignments and assistance that promote proper forest management and stewardship both on State Forest Lands and on private forest lands. |
Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1. Assists Service Foresters with their collection of preliminary field data for stand analysis and the development of forest management decisions. Assists in executing stewardship enhancement practices including but not exclusive to tree planting, timber stand improvement, wildlife habitat management, etc. Assists with tree inventories when needed. 2. Obtains timber volumes by marking and/or cruising as prescribed by Foresters. Surveys and marks boundaries for timber sales and other projects specified by the foresters. Assists foresters in the collection of field data for stand analysis, timber sales and other district projects. Assists foresters in the planning and executing of wildlife habitat activities. 3. Assists Foresters and the District FPM Coordinator with surveillance flights, ground checking and other insect and disease detection activities. Assists with insect and disease suppression projects as directed. Coordinates and completes IPM with invasive species and competing vegetation such as EAB, HWA, Japanese Barberry etc. 4. Assists Fire Foresters with wildfire prevention programs, pre-suppression and suppression activities, and help with the Smokey program. Obtain training and experience to become a Forest Fire Warden. 5. Assists district personnel with the development of displays, exhibits and other education materials. Assists with the development and updating of district promotional items (trail maps, brochures, information packets, etc.) 6. Assists district personnel with the upkeep and general appearance of District facilities including but not inclusive to trail clearing, lawn mowing, tree trimming, arboretum etc. Assists with trail maintenance, signs, and deer fences. This job description does not limit, nor imply that these may necessarily be the only duties expected of this employee. Other duties will be assigned according to Management. Supervision is primarily by phone and one-to-one contact with supervisor. Assignment and review of work is principally the same |
