Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The Tradesman Helper provides hands-on support to the Maintenance Repairman and Maintenance Supervisor in the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of the facility, equipment, vehicles, and building systems. This position works closely with the Maintenance Repairman as an assistant and team member, helping complete assigned maintenance and repair projects throughout the facility.

The Tradesman Helper performs work under the direction of the Maintenance Repairman and/or Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Repairman and Supervisor are responsible for determining the appropriate repair methods, materials, priorities, and work assignments. The Tradesman Helper assists with completing the work safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

The Tradesman Helper will:

Assist the Maintenance Repairman with general building maintenance and repair activities.

Assist with carpentry work, including repairing doors, frames, walls, floors, ceilings, trim, and other building components.

Assist with plumbing repairs and maintenance, including faucets, drains, toilets, water lines, fixtures, and other plumbing-related work.

Assist with welding, fabrication, modification, and repair of metal components under the direction of the Maintenance Repairman.

Assist with equipment repair and maintenance, including facility equipment, tools, machinery, and other operational equipment.

Assist with vehicle and mobile equipment maintenance and repairs.

Assist with building systems and related maintenance activities.

Assist with repairs involving locks, doors, closers, hardware, fixtures, and other facility components.

Assist with painting, patching, touch-up work, and other building finish repairs.

Assist with preventive maintenance activities and routine inspections as assigned.

Assist with the setup, repair, modification, and removal of facility-related equipment and components.

Gather, prepare, and transport tools, equipment, materials, and supplies needed for assigned work.

Operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and machinery appropriate to the work being performed and as trained and authorized.

Help maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, shops, tools, and equipment.

Assist with cleanup and restoration of work areas after completing maintenance projects.

Follow all safety procedures, policies, and instructions when performing assigned work.

Report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, damage, or additional repair needs to the Maintenance Repairman or Supervisor.

Assist other trades and maintenance staff when assigned to support facility operations.

Work throughout the facility and assist with maintenance needs associated with events, building activities, and daily operations.

Participate in training and develop knowledge and skills in various maintenance trades.
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

13. Perform duties in an environment around animals and livestock with exposure to dirt, dust, and hay

15. Available to work different shifts in a 7 day a week vendor-controlled environment

This position is intended to provide skilled trade support while developing the employee's knowledge and abilities in facility maintenance and repair. The Tradesman Helper does not independently determine repair methods, major modifications, project priorities, or the appropriate means of correcting complex maintenance issues.

The Tradesman Helper is expected to demonstrate initiative within assigned responsibilities, safely perform hands-on work, learn from experienced trades personnel, and progressively develop the skills necessary to support the maintenance operation.

Essential Functions
