Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Responsible for evaluating and processing applications for licensure, reactivation, continuing education audit, and continuing education programs as well as license renewals for Boards within the Health Licensing Division. Employee performs the required tasks in compliance with the law, regulations and policies. Independent judgment in determining licensure eligibility is necessary. Must be familiar with licensure requirements for each of the professions assigned. Ability to meet established deadlines is one measure of effective performance. Employee is aware of on-going workload requirements and performance objectives and sets their priorities accordingly. Any unusual problems which may occur are brought to the supervisor's attention. Employees must exercise good judgment and initiative within the established policies and procedures.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Validates licensure applications for completeness of data and the presence of all required documents.

Gathers criteria for license from the laws, rules and regulations and policies of the Boards for the applications processed by the position.

Evaluates licensure applications and determines eligibility for licensure.

Develops, prepares and distributed detailed letters of discrepancy to applicants not meeting the licensure requirements as outlined by criteria in laws, regulation and policies.

Distributes exceptional applications to the Board Administrator and performs all post review and follow-up.

Disseminates licensure eligibility information to public via telephone and written correspondence.

Extensive knowledge of this information and its levels of confidentiality is necessary and is based upon the criteria outlined in laws, regulations and policies.

Researches and verifies licensure records and prepares letters of good standing.

Determines appropriate application, form or bulletin and distributes to requesting party.

Interacts with applicants, other state agencies and/or licensing boards to secure information pertaining to applicant licensure/disciplinary action.

Reviews and verifies that all necessary information from the licensee is included on the license renewal application to determine if license can be renewed.


Develops, prepares and distributes letters of discrepancy for disapproved renewal applications.

Evaluates effectiveness of current forms used for the appropriate boards and provides input on the design of changes to these forms.

Processes and evaluates continuing education program sponsor applications. Refers applications that require Board review to individual Board members, as appropriate.

Evaluates and processes continuing education audit responses to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations.

Processes and approves audits that are in compliance with the rules and regulations.

Types and sends any necessary correspondence to licensees regarding the continuing education audit.

Refers licensees that have not met the audit requirements or responded to the audit to the Board Administrator.

Evaluates and processes reactivation applications.

Prepares and sends letters when checks are returned from Revenue for insufficient funds, etc.


Performs other related work as required.

Decisions must be made independently regarding the evaluation and processing of work. Employee must have a good knowledge of the law, rules and regulations for all assigned Boards. This includes licensure requirements as well as requirements to be in compliance with the Board's continuing education requirements. Employee independently evaluates the continuing education applications and determines eligibility or if additional information or documentation is needed to complete the application.
