Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is a pharmacy support position performing a variety of duties in the Clark Summit State Hospital Pharmacy, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The person in this position is an essential employee.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Operates, maintains and supports: electronic healthcare databases, records & profiles along with automated dispensing machines as required.
Utilizes basic communication skills to accurately process oral, written and electronic pharmacy communications in a timely fashion.
Knowledge of brand and generic medication names to ensure accuracy in medication preparation.
Knowledge of abbreviations and symbols commonly used in the prescribing and dispensing of medications.
Accurately selects and prepares prescribed medications for pharmacist review.
Processes medication returns and credits and performs supervised medication destruction and disposal.
Assembles patient medications and floor stock orders.
Monitors pharmacy stock levels, prepares requisitions for drug purchase, receives and stocks medication inventory and other pharmacy supplies.
Re-packages medications for pharmacy distribution.
Utilizes computers and technology to support drug wholesale purchases, pharmacy patient data, drug information, drug re-packaging technology, automated dispensing devices, and pharmaceutical billing processes.
Maintains the pharmacy area to insure a clean, organized environment.
Creates, files and retrieves purchasing, inventory and departmental documents.
Maintains a courteous demeanor.
Ability to traverse the campus.
May be assigned additional duties by the Chief Pharmacist.
Obtains, maintains and utilizes Crisis Response/Intervention and CPR certification.

Essential functions

Possess basic oral and written communications skills.
Ability to perform related clerical tasks.
Knows and adheres to current pharmacy regulations and facility policies.
Prepares medications and stock orders for pharmacist review.
Preforms non-professional tasks in an institutional pharmacy.
Collaborates with medical professionals to provide and improve pharmacy services at CSSH.
Ability to operate computerized pharmacy software applications, informational and automated pharmacy support systems.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Job may require frequent changes from standing to sitting.
Ability to traverse the campus.
Obtains, maintains and utilizes Crisis Response/Intervention and CPR certification.
Ability to lift up-to 40lbs.
