Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 10% Provide general supervision, guidance and assistance to all nurses on each shift in the daily implementation of health care activities, treatments and medications for residents, to meet the requirements of the facility accreditation agencies. 2% Maintain nursing care hours per regulations and as specified by facility guidelines to meet the care needs of all residents in both skilled care and personal care areas of the facility. 5% Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the delivery of health services in quality of care and quality of life areas. 1% Schedule and assign adequate numbers of personnel to meet the needs of residents. 2% Monitor daily documentation, care plans and resident assessment instruments that include Minimum Data Set information and assessment summaries for accuracy and updated notations. 2% Assess and report serious incidents. Fill out the Serious Incident Report form (DMVA 190-45) and submit to the appropriate parties as outlined in the Serious Incident Reporting PIM and Department of Health Regulations. 2% Evaluate the pattern and trend of health services given to facility residents for therapeutic effects. 5% Supervise and monitor interdisciplinary conferences to determine compliance to regulatory standards. 10% Communicate and interact with facility managers, supervisors, health services personnel, visitors, volunteers and family members in a professional and effective manner. 5% Direct the nursing staff to make maximal use of time and ability and to accomplish assigned tasks. 2% Plan, direct, control and evaluate data collection, problem analysis, and problem resolution for infection control and quality assurance programs. 5% Receive resident and employee complaints and conduct an initial investigation into the condition and cause of the complaint(s). 3% Identify actual and potential safety and health hazards for residents and staff and take appropriate corrective actions. 2% Provide input and recommend changes to nursing policies and procedures for operational efficiency. 5% Oversee and participate in the observation of residents’ conditions; ensure changes are reported to appropriate staff. Record daily care performed for the residents on the appropriate forms and the approved electronic medical record. 5% Attend all mandatory in-service as well as out-service programs as necessary to remain current with nursing practices and procedures, especially in the areas of supervision and long-term care. Satisfactorily complete all required competencies. Schedule nursing personnel to attend in-service training programs. 5% As a supervisor, perform duties such as planning, assigning and evaluating work, determining work priorities, interviewing and selecting employees, evaluating employee performance, approving or disapproving leave requests, initiating disciplinary actions, determining subordinate training needs, coaching and counseling employees, and resolving problems and disagreements. 2% Plan for and obtain all medical equipment and supplies necessary to meet the needs of the residents. 3% Follow and enforce agency call-off procedures. 10% Review time and attendance data for accuracy and resolves discrepancies. 5% Perform work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately report all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately correct any safety hazards in the work area or report same to the supervisor. 1% Support the facility QAPI efforts by attending all assigned QAPI training and following established policies and procedures in support of QAPI. Participate in PIP teams as assigned. Share ideas for improvement in the organization; support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally, including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings. 8% Perform other related duties as required. Follow universal precautions. Use required personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, gowns, goggles, face shield, etc. |
