Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The Security Officer 1, at the Bureau of Farm Show is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the facility, employees, visitors, contractors, property and assets. Daily patrols and duties both inside and outside may be required. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, the ability to provide excellent customer service, resolve and deescalate conflicts swiftly, work in a fast pace environment, and receive instruction in both written and verbal forms. Following the bureaus safety and security policies and procedures, manage difficult situations and make quick effective decisions is essential. This position must effectively and efficiently communicate with leadership, coworkers, clients, and visitors. A timely response to all emergency situations is vital. Work in the security, traffic management or convention center operations preferred. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Maintains a high level of independent thinking, problem solving and emergency decision making abilities as situations arise. Complete shift patrols to also include specific patrol areas, general facility, parking lots, and grounds to secure each and maintain a safe environment. Maintain safe traffic flows and parking perimeters on all Farm Show managed parking areas. Completes duties associated with the paid parking operations. Utilize good communication skills to provide excellent customer service to visitors, clients, and event participants Utilize clear communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with the Lieutenants, Chief of Security, management, and other Farm Show departments on concerns, incidents, and information needing to be shared. Utilize clear radio communication skills to transmit clear and correct information via a 2-way radio. Provide clear and complete entrees in daily activity logs calling attention to incidents or items that need additional attention or that need a higher level of awareness. Provide timely communication with local law enforcement as directed by a Lieutenant or Chief of Security regarding unlawful activities. Utilizes and when directed, distributes all necessary security equipment for various shifts, as required for task assigned. Understand and complete daily work assignments related to their assigned patrol or post. Report, log and tag all lost and found items. Accommodate show request for timed opening and securing of entrances. Respond to fire control system alarms with the appropriate next steps. Provide clear communication to emergency response teams during an emergency situation (location of emergency, best path into the complex etc. ) Complete daily protocol associated with raising and lowering of the American and state flags. Review daily activity log and shift reports. Prepares Farm Show managed parking lots for events. Signage, barriers, cones and traffic patterns are established prior to show opening. Follows state and bureau security directives, standard operating procedures and safety policies. Effectively communicate with various Farm Show departments to realize collaborative success. Remain committed to secure government property, equipment and assets. Completes all required trainings and actively participates in available trainings directly related to safety, security and emergency preparedness. Displays a willingness to perform other assigned duties with a can-do teamwork attitude. Supervise subordinates and manage daily assignments when working out of class. Performs other duties assigned and in accordance with current security policies, directives, standard operational procedures. Permanent and 9-Month staff (TFT) are required to apply for and maintain, child abuse clearances. |
