Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 35% Proofs of compliance files: Receive, review, analyze, compile, monitor, and update accreditation proofs of compliance files by maintaining expertise regarding the contents and requirements of Department directives, regulations and other compliance documentation, all applicable CALEA and PLEAC manuals; obtaining, reviewing, analyzing, copying, highlighting, and submitting for approval compliance documentation for agency CALEA and PLEAC accreditation files. 20% Maintain and update CALEA and PLEAC automated management programs: Acquire and maintain expertise in the functioning and operations of both programs; input/update compliance documentation information into both program data files. 15% Train, assign, and review accreditation related activities of clerical personnel temporarily assigned to assist in various aspects of the process such as replacing, copying, and entering various required documents into CALEA and PLEAC systems. When the Accreditation Manager is unavailable, train Accreditation Contact Persons (ACP) on all accreditation related duties and give presentations to Cadets, Liquor Control Enforcement (LCE) personnel, Bureau of Research and Development personnel, and attendees of New Employee Orientation. 10% Evaluate, generate, and/or coordinate accreditation-related projects/reports: Communicate via telephone, fax, email, correspondence or in person with Department organizational segments, ACPs, and other agencies regarding the evaluation, generation, submission, and/or coordination of the creation of directives/regulations, forms, manuals, and other compliance documentation; communicate, correspond with PPAC, and other law enforcement agency representatives in the accreditation systems by preparing information, reports, and other assistance on various accreditation-related topics; prepare and submit projects related to the above activities for review/approval. 10% Maintain and update research documentation: Maintain and update research documentation by periodically reviewing and updating Academy Handouts, Regulations, forms, reports, and other agency documentation. 5% Periodically attend and participate at Department, CALEA, PLEAC, PPAC, meetings, conferences, on-site assessments, and mock assessments. Become a CALEA and PLEAC assessor and organize, lead, and/or participate in on-site assessments of municipal, state, and provincial law enforcement agencies. 5% Performs other related duties as required. |
Decision Making: Describe the types of decisions made by the incumbent of this position and the types of decisions referred to others. Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. Determine if draft directives comply with PLEAC and CALEA standards, may provide information upon request to Department personnel requiring interpretations and impact of CALEA and PLEAC standards, and may determine the degree of assistance the section will provide to agencies requesting accreditation aid or support. Suggest policy revisions or new policies for the Department’s consideration to remain PLEAC and CALEA compliant. The Assistant Accreditation Manager will act in the capacity of the Accreditation Manager, when unavailable, but will not provide or speculate regarding internal policy matters of PLEAC, or PPAC. |
