Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This internship will give students the opportunity to gain experience in various aspects of timber management, recreation, service forestry, and other state forest management activities while working with foresters to accomplish the district goals. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assist foresters with timbersale preparation, marking, and administration. Assist foresters with implementation and administration of regeneration projects to include deer fence and orchard fence maintenance. Assist the foresters with recreation projects to include trail maintenance, bridge construction, trail signage, leased camp inspections, etc. Assist in identifying tree insects and diseases to perform assessments and implement treatments. Assist the foresters and Wildland Fire Supervisor with community and landowner outreach. Complete various data collection processes to include DMAP plots, silvah plots, prescribed fire plots, or project GPS type of work. Perform data entry to corresponding project. Assist in performing forest maintenance work. |
